Bode or Massie.

Agreed.

While it would be nice to give Skippy another game as he did do well in his limited game time, these are big games and we need our best out there. Begley or Skipworth out? Or both?

Sounds like a smart move to bring Bode in, since he would be pretty fresh, anyone think there is a chance Ayres will give him a lot of ground time, like just about the whole game?

If he is selected I hope he cements his spot in the team, I think he is in our best side, the Pies are a pretty good hard ball get team aren't they? he wil be handy at the bottom of the packs.

Surely you should be rushing Mattner back into the side to play on Woey again :) And I think its safe to bring Bode back in, he doesn't have Tarks in the side to towel him up like last year :P

I'd keep Skipworth, he showed enough.

Sorry Dave but we are getting down towards the business end of the season & if Bode is fit & well Skippy goes back to the SANFL,

Would even think very hard of including Mark Stevens on the bench as from what i saw of his game last week he is not far of it, would give Massie a run with the legs & as soon as he's shown fitness & a bit of form then back he comes also,

Providing Carey plays,
Ins = Bode & Stevens
Outs = Skipworth & Begley

The more I think about it the more I am convinced that Stevo might play even if Carey is fit.

Collingwoods defence is quite leaky and would struggle to match up on 3 talls. It played undercover so you can quite easily play with 3 tall forwards. What match commitee might do is play Stevo and Carey for a half each so there is not much chance of re-injuring for both of them.

On the other hand, we might opt to go for more running power especially after coming off a Perth trip.

It would be very interesting to see which option the match commitee takes.

If they opt for 3 talls in attack then I am afraid that Skippy will go back to the SANFL.

Skippy is needed in the SANFL at the moment, his side [Woodville West Torrens] is vying to secure their finals spot, they'll want their leading Posession and Tackles Getter for the game against Glenelg. :)

With the setbacks Stevo has had, I would not risk him this week given that Carey looks like he will play. We cannot afford for Stevo to have any further problems. 1 more week with the WWT Eagles & then pick him to play the Kangaroos the following week. This gives him 2 games before the finals.

I look at it another way, after all the setbacks Mark has had another option would be to just let him rip instead of wrapping him in cotton wool.

We have see him do damage to his ribs in the SANFL and also cop a heavy hit to the head.

I don't see how holding him back in the SANFL for another week is any safer then playing him in the AFL.

Will be interesting to see how the AFC selectors see it. The pace is heaps quicker at AFL level & with all the setbacks Stevo has had, I would prefer to take the cautious approach. A fit & firing Stevo would be a real bonus come finals time, given that he is arguably our most valuable forward (& gives us another key defensive option too).

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIESSSSSS!
Well you must have a higher IQ than most Pes supporters... ;)

Possible Team

B: Hart, Smart, Bassett
HB: Edwards, McGregor, Torney
C: Burton, Shirley, Reilly
HF: Bode, Carey, McLeod
F: Burns, Perrie, Johnc.ock
R: Biglands, Ricciuto, Goodwin
I: Clarke, Bickley, Skipworth, Doughty

IN: Bode, Reilly, Doughty
OUT: Stenglein, Ladhams, Begley

Buckley on Shirley - good night nurse!

what about something a bit left field:- Bickley on Buckley...

I am serious, even if it was for just the first quarter or first half?
I'm sure that Bicks could help soften him up a bit with some of his famous fierce tackling.

Thoughts anyone?

It has been tried before and he has got thrashed. He just isn't that type of player

Shirley will do a good enough job on Buckley.

I think we should just let loose Roo and McLeod in the square and not worry too much about tags.

We tried Bickley on Buckley the last time Adelaide beat Collingwood in Melbourne (1998). Bucks still got his 30+ touches, and the 3 Brownlow votes. Bicks is slower now and could'nt go with Buckley, even for a quarter.

Then again, Adelaide got the 4 points so it worked.

Shirley has not let us down yet & deserves 1st crack on Bucks. Bucks has towelled up Bicks in the past, so for me that shouldn't be an option. Alternatively, Roo or Goody could go head-to-head.
