No James Begley this week according to Channel 9. Unable to train today courtesy of a sore groin thathas troubled him for at lkeast a month.
According to Biglands he got through the training and is available. Smart is also available. Rhetr reckons Stevo and Torney are very good chances to come in and Watts is a fair chance of making a debut. :D

Bassett didn't train and will be given until Friday to prove his fitness. Crows say Begley should play but I reckon he will miss.

SO:

IN: Biglands, Stevens, Watts, Torney, Reilly
OUT: Bassett, Welsh, Ladhams, Begley, Skipworth

Thats what I would do anyway. Hawks are a pretty tall team

Thats pretty close to what will happen, would question Biglans coming in after 6 weeks?
If Stevens and Watts come in, why the need for Biglands anyway. Might as well let him get some game time at WWT.

This weekend is as tough a round of footy to pick as the best of them.
Both your game and ours are touch and go.
At this stage I am marginally leaning towards Hawthorn, but do really think that it is a very winnable game for you lot.

Now, before the teams get announced, can anyone give (in not too many words) five or six reasons why the Crows will win?

Roo's 250th
Keep alive the smallest of hopes (mathematical chance) of making the finals

Those are only reason's I can think of as to why the Crows will win.

I have a few more for why we will lose :(

5 or 6? I'm struggling to come up with one!
Our game isn't that hard to tip...however, I agree, the Port v Gee match could genuinely go either way, but after backing the Tigers last week :o, I won't make the same mistake again.

Port struggles with teams that have a good midfield and teams that can run atm. Geelong are capable of doing both. Luckily the game is in Adelaide.

As far as Adelaide Vs Hawthorn goes (from an Adelaide perspective):
1. The midfield should be even at worst.
2. Adelaide struggles with teams that can rebound. Hawthorn are not up there with the best in this respect.
3. Hawthorn have struggled to score goals as much as Adelaide has. (even here)
4. Hawthorn defence has been suspect, thus a chance for Adelaide to create some problems.
5. MCG means neither here nor there for either team.

Cannot see why Adelaide should win, but equally cannot see why Hawthorn should win.

Adelaide won't win on big grounds. They will win on smaller grounds like AIMII, Telstra Dome, etc. The MCG is bgger than the crows home ground.

Should be a close match though. Hawthorn to win.

Crows actually seem to enjoy playing on the MCG, so don't think they have big-ground syndrome.

Picking the Crows this week as i can't bring myself to pick the Hawks given they have let me down it my tipping so many times.

We're in for 2-3 wet days over here, culminating in rain and 15 degrees by Sunday. Better off going for an extra runner. Schuback instead of Biglands for mine, and probably not the greatest day for Fergus to make his debut (though as a Vic lad, it might be an extra incentive do play well in front of family and friends on the 'G).

Welsh and Ladhams have to go out this week.

Agree that playing 3 ruckman in wet conditions would be a mistake. Biglands has been out for a while & could probably do with a run with the Eagles. Even if Bassett is out, we have McGregor, Hentschel, Hart & Bock who can play as defensive talls (particularly given the wet conditions).

I think the majority of this board would agree Welsh & Ladhams deserve to be dropped after a few ordinary performances & that JT is a must in.

That was the word this morning on 5AA.

Stevens in, Watts to make his debut.

Biglands for WWT in the local comp.

Stevens would be a certainty IMO. Not sure about Watts just yet.

Congratulations Susi!!

You are the master - or is that mistress - of inaccuracy.

Aami Stadium - 165 metres long x 133 metres wide.

MCG - 160 metres long x 138 metres wide.

Any other garbage to tell us Suzi??

Mark my words Watts will make his AFL debut this week. I was right with Bock's debut and I have the same sort of feeling now. It would be the perfect time to give Fergie a game. Playing at the G (less pressure for a debut that it would be here), against Hawks who aren't travelling well (neither are we) and playing in the same forward line as Carey and Stevens. What more would you want apart from maybe having a perfect weather for footy.

I think Stevens, Watts and Torney will come in.

I would keep Shirley in if its likely to be wet. Those conditions suit him to perfection.

From a Bomber fan POV, Adelaide will have no trouble with Hawthorn. Adelaide's midfield would wipe the floor with Hawthorn's midfield, as demonstrated quite vividly when these two teams met at Football Park, round 1, 1991

Fergus Watts out of the Eagles side - well predicted Stiffy.
Mark Stevens also out for the Eagles for the Crows.
Biglands playing for Eagles.
Jericho has been named for West Adelaide

This is the thing that really P|SSES me off. Welsh keeps his spot after a string of pathetic efforts yet Jericho who has been playing better football than Welshy gets dropped.

This is really p|ssing me off:mad:

No problems with Stevo & Watts being picked, but Jericho being dropped before Welsh is a bloody mystery to me. Please don't tell me Ladhams keeps his spot too...

This is the side according to AFL.com.au:

ADELAIDE
B: Begley, Hart, Hentschel
HB: Massie, McGregor, Mattner
C: Bock, Ricciuto, Doughty
HF: Johncock, Carey, Edwards
F: Stevens, Bassett, Skipworth
FOLL: Clarke, Stenglein, McLeod
I/C: Shirley, Hudson, Welsh, Shuback
EMG: Watts, Torney, Reilly
IN: Stevens, Schuback
OUT: Jericho, Ladhams

Good ins but Jericho's exclusion is a shocker.

Obviously some of you got dud info with Watts?
