Smart arse!!!!!!:p

If we bring in Welsh, Stevens, Hart, Ladhams and Stenglein this week who are the 5 players that miss out??????

As good as Shirley has been for us it mgith be time to get back to SANFL:(

IN: Stevens, Welsh, Hart, Stenglein, Ladhams
OUT: Doughty, Shirley, Skipworth, Begley, Schuback

Begley and Shirley would be unlucky but footy is a game of heart breaks, there are more kicks in the backside than pats on the back;)

Bode and Burns should be lower in the pecking order than Shirley.
If Bode was given as much time on the ground as Shirley then he would star. Burns is a goalsneak which means he is most likely to be incinsistent. How soon do we forget the magic and spark he brings to the forward line.

Shirley really has posed a problem hasn't he?

No-one would have thought a few weeks back that he is in our best 22.

He has grabbed his chances with both hands and currently IS in our best 22.

Question though.

Out of Burns, Bode and Shirley, which of these 3 has the potential to shine at finals time??

Not sure I know the answer to that myself.

Bode doesn't perform the same role as Shirley.

He's surplus to our needs with Welsh in the side.

He definetly has done a very good job for us in every game he played this year.

ANSWER: It will come down to strategy. I would definetly have Burns in my side as he is the type of bloke who can turn a game with a sensational burst of magic. Bode is the sort of player that you throw in the guts and you know that he will get the clearences and provide a spark in the midfield. Shirley will do a tagging job.

For the remining 2 rounds I would definetly have Shirley in the side as he is the one bloke that could stop Harvey (Roos) that always cuts us up and a very underrated Roger James. From then on I would take it as a week to week proposition.

QUESTION: For finals do teams need 2 taggers or is it a liability?

Thats obvious but you are basing your opinion on Bode's form. I am saying that if Bode got as much game time as Shirley, you would have him above Shirley in pecking order.

2 different types. If we want to play 3 tall forwards then Burns is definetly not surplus to our needs. You need the likes of Burns, Johncock and Ladhams around their feet. ;)

Skipworth can go back to the SANFL over Shirley, for now. Especially with Ladhams, Stinger, etc. coming back in there's no spot for him at the moment. But he's played well while he's been in the team.

IMO it is a liability come finals time. We have got to play attcking footy in the midfield in the finals if we are going to go anywhre. Stenglein doing a job on a Voss, Stevens, Buckley, Williams or Cousins is enough in the game. We have to back ourselves in if we think we are the best and that does not mean having 2 defensive type players in our midfield.

In the finals we will see Mcleod, Riccuito and Stenglein as the onball brigade which doesn't leave much room for Shirley with the likes of Burton and Ladhams on a wing and with Bickley and Bode probably being rotated off the bench. It would be a tough call but personally I can't see him being in our best 22 in the finals, simply because we shouldn't be taking two taggers into a game.

I was also a bit disappointed with his disposal on Friday night. It has never been that great but Shirley and Skipworth particulalry turned the ball over a bit. Shirley also has to learn to just get boot to ball in order to force the ball forward instaed of trying to barge through a pack and not dispose of the ball until he is clear. He did that countless times on Friday Night.

As for this week Stevo has to come back in to get some AFL match fitness as well as Welsh if he's fit. Also to come back will be Stinger, Lads and Hart. Even though Begley tried hard on Friday he is not in our best 22 and we have to get our best 22 out there a couple of weeks before finals.

INS: Stevens, Welsh, Hart, Stenglein, Ladhams

OUTS: Skipworth, Schuback, Doughty, Begley, ?????

I agree snakebite unless you have specific players you need to be tagged dont take two into the side:) Stenglein is a fantastic tagger and can handle MOST tagging roles he is given,Shirley is a great player no doubt about it but unfourtunately could find himself out of the side at finals time:(

I really think we need to get our BEST 22 on the park ASAP if the players are fit enough lets play them we need to get the line up settled playing well together:D :D

The AFC should have only one goal The 2003 AFL Premiership Cup:D :D :D

Send Bickley and Smart out on the biggest high ever:D :D :D

We should play our best available fit side. ie. It was a disgrace that the the club selected unfit players last week (ie. players who were bed-ridden during the week & throwing up at half-time). They did a dis-service to Carey by picking him as he clearly was on 1 leg. Would have been better of playing Rutten, Reilly & Gallagher. I hope the club has learnt its lesson.

On this week, Stevo must play as he has had enough match practice in the SANFL. Welsh also should come straight back in if he has recovered. We don't have time to bring him back through the SANFL reserves & can rotate off the bench. Hart, Ladhams & Stinger straight back in to if they have recovered. I doubt they will be all fit, so we probably won't need to drop as many as we think.

As for the outs, it will depend on who is OK to come back in. However, this is not the time to be blooding young talent, but time to settle our team for finals. This means Shuback & Skipworth should go back to the SANFL. On the other players to be dropped, AFC need to start making decisions as to who is not in our best-22 come finals time.

Again I can't believe the calls to drop Shirley. IMO, he should be picked ahead of Begley, Burns, Bode, Torney and Bickley. There are usually 2 opposition players who need run-with roles - & if there aren't, Stinger can play an attacking role.

There are some mixed news from the AFC today. Welsh has trained today and is expected to play. Ladhams, Stenglein, Hart and Stevens should also get back into the side but the flu bug has this time struck down Mark Bickley and Nathan Bock.

Burton is also expected to play. It would be really interesting to see what the match commitee do on thursday night.

If Welsh is OK then he should come in along with Stevens, Hart, Stinger & Ladhams. I would definitely rest Bicks with the flue along with Carey, & drop Shippy & Schuback. That puts the heat on Bode, Burns & Begley to keep their places.

Does this team look alright?

F :Perrie Stevens Johncock

HF:Ladhams Carey Welsh

C:Burton Ricciuto Begley

HB:Hart McGregor Edwards

B:Torney Bassett Smart
