I know Jars, but I would have rather kept the 3rd round draft pick in one of the strongest pools in history. I think it was pick 54. With that pick we actually could have selected one of Jamar, Medhurst and Damon White that power got. A player who will be a great KPP at either end of the ground.

In all honesty Schell is a waste of salary cap space.

We had lost Vardy Jarman and Robran

we needed to get a forward from somewhere

I am not too critical of the move as he still has potential I think.

Water under the bridge now anyway.

From watching the news tonight, if Carey and McGregor pass tomorrows training sessions they are in. I'd give the Sarge another week or two and Crowell for Burns (in a pocket!) would be a goer.

Subject to fitness, the tom toms from West Lakes are beating that Burns is a real chance to be picked this week. He certainly was going to be last week. Your ins have a very good chance of being right, subject to training tomorrow night.

As for the outs, Schell and Hentschel will be two of them if McGregor and Carey come in. The 3rd out will either be Gags or Crowell depending on the matchup for Matera.

For this week's match I'd line the team up like this:

B: Hart...........Bassett..........Smart

HB: John****......McGregor.....Bickley

C: Goodwin........Stenglein......Torney

HF: Riccuito........Stevens.......Bode

F: Burns..........Carey.........Ladhams

R: Clarke.......McLeod........Edwards

INT: Perrie.......Reilly........Gallagher.......Biglands

I'd start Goodwin on a wing to allow him to free up a bit and find some form just like we did for Roo in round 1. Keep Roo in the forward line at the start of the game to be another target and a crumbing forward also. I have Perrie on the bench in an attempt to get his hunger back if he has dropped his guard just a couple of percent and to let him know he needs to perform week in week out. Start Hart on Matera as he rarely gets beaten and small forwards don't often have blinders 2 weeks in a row. Tell Burns to follow Carey around everywhere and to be SELFISH. None of this handball crap around goals, just kick the thing, he knows where the goals are, we should use that knowledge of his to effect. Stinger on Cousins is the obvious one. I'd bring Perrie on to the ground in the second quarter or maybe even just 15 mins into the game, just to throw West Coast off a bit.

Should be a good game, the boys seem intent on winning and winning big so let's hope it goes that way.

Well, you got all 3 of those INS and OUTS correct Stiffy, plus of course there was the additional IN of Marsh and the OUT of Perrie.

Assuming that Marsh and Perrie are line ball the 3 ins above would seem to add many goals to our team for Sunday when you compare them to the players they have replaced.

My confidence is rising!! :)

I think Marsh's inclusion took us all by surprise.

Agree RE more goals. If its a nice day on sunday we should kick a big score. One interesting stat is that prior to this round WC are the highest scoring tem and they have conceeded less points than we have. Having said that I think AFC got it right in including Burns. With Carey back, our forward line looks more potent. Even if Jakovich hold Carey imagine how many crumbing opportunities there will be for the likes of Burns, Ladhams, Bode, Edwards and McLeod.

I really hope Marsh proves us all wrong and plays as well as he did in that game against Sydney a few years ago. If that Marsh rocks up we would have best rucking depth in AFL.:D

I wonder what are the odds of Ben Marsh being BOG??????

1 000 000 000 000 000 / 1??????:D

I looked at the eag;les side and there doesn't appear to be much height especially in their forward line. This got me thinking that they would rotate their ruckman throught the forward line which could see Marsh or Biglands playing as defenders. If this is the case I ahve a funny suspicion that either Bassett or McGregor (more likely) will play forward as 3rd tall.

thoughts????

Youre right about their forward line. They may well want to put their resting ruckman up forward.

The choice of 3 ruckmen in our team could be deliberate to force mismatches so that they would then be forced to put their resting ruckman back if we put all 3 ruckmen on the ground at once.

I think Bassett and Mcgregor will play in their normal spots in defence with any games Ayres may play being done with the 3 big men.

I've always thought Marsh was quite a talented footballer but has failed to show it - hopefully he doesn't finally decide to show it this week :)

You'd be bloody unlucky if he did.....I wouldn't worry though.

And I agree with macca23 here, I think Ayresy will be more likely to play a tall like Marsh or Biglands forward and stretch WC that way, rather than play a backman forward. Guess we'll see what happens.

Hey, just a question, I dont know much about Clarke, is he capable of playing any other postion other than ruck because everytime we talk about putting a ruckman in forward or defence Biglands and Marsh are always suggested but never Clarke???
Just curious....

There's a good reason for this.

Clarke is a very good tap ruckman who generally gives our mid-fielders first use of the ball. One of the very best in this department.

The weakness in his game is that he doesn't get a lot of the ball in general play, because he is a poor overhead mark and naturally not a great ground player being a big man. That doesn't make for either a good forward or backman.
