I'll take this bet...

Just leave the keys to your house under the mat in 10 years, I'll be around to collect.

You obviously haven't seen Walker play at SANFL level. Will be a superstar, don'r care what Bomber supporters think of their superstar full back. I think if you asked coaches of other clubs such as the Bulldogs i bet they would like Walker more than Hurley. I guess it comes down to how you rate a player, by goals or by upfield influence. For which, both players will probably be very different. In fact, I'll put this to a poll.

tippet and walker are guns but will tippet still be with adelaide with GC17 coming in? vince is just awesome & dangerfield, I had him in both dt & sc, he was so inconsistent but the all the hype about him I stuck with him and hardly delivered but will still very very good IMO.
& knights, I actually thought he was older but really looks good on the field
The Essendon youngsters, I love most of them. pears is awesome, hurley on his very limited exposure WOW! but I think both team are on par

Didn't you get the memo? Tippett re-signed a few weeks back and will be around while we compare these "current" youngsters in playing ability

Right now, Adelaide have the edge. Essendon have a pretty good young list, but i rate a few teams ahead of them. Both supporter groups would be very happy with their lot

If you're gonna post like a troll, at least call us Bummers.

i have gone over both lists and only used players that have played a minimum of 10 games at senior afl level and are younger than 25 years old (as of 7th october 2009).

I have then placed them into groups.
3 points for a proven player: Who has shown that they can play at the highest level, consistantly getting a game, and at a high level.

2 points for a potentially good player: Who has shown to demonstrate that they have the ability to become a very good/elite player at the highest level, some players have been placed into this category even though they have shown that they can play elite football on the big stage, just not consistantly yet.

1 point for an average player: 1 point has been awarded to players who have been in the system a while and has shwon nothing more than just being a solid player, both sides have there fair share of these, and thus, i find these results fair on both parts.

Here is adelaide's list:

Proven: (6 players)
andy otten
kurt tippet
bernie vince
chris knights
jason porplyzia
nathan van berlo

potential: (5 players)
taylor walker
brad moran
patrick dangerfield
ivan maric
david mckay

average: (4 players)
johnathan griffen
james sellar
richard douglas
brad symes

now here is essendon's list:

Proven: (6 players)
jobe watson
brent prismal
paddy ryder
jason winderlich
brent stanton
tayte pears

potential: (9 players)
david zaharakis
michael hurley
cale hooker
bachar houli
kyle reimers
courteany dempsey
david myers
jason laycock
heath hocking

average: (8 players)
jarrod atkinson
jay neagle
leroy jetta
sam lonergan
jay nash
henry slattery
ricky dyson
angus monfries

totals are in, and it would seem that our younger guys are fairly better than yours, it does help when we blood younger guys and not hold onto our veterans that are holding out team together:p.

Adealaide crows
proven: 6 players/18 points
potential: 5 players/10 points
average: 4 players/4 points
total 15 players/32 points

essendon bombers:
Proven: 6 players/18 points
potential: 9 players/18 points
average: 8 players/8 points
total: 23 players/44 points

so there it is ladies and gentleman, results are in and it would seem that the bombers group of younger players are par if not better than the crows younger players.

hahahahahahahahaha

Who cares...

Freo youngsters; Rhys Palmer, Stephen Hill, Nic Suban, Chris Mayne, Matt DeBoer, Garrick Ibbotson, Hayden Ballantyne, Greg Broughton, Michael Walters, Clancee Pearce, Casey Sibosado(you'll see next year)

Edit: And Morabito I'm guessing

Adelaide beats that by so much it's not funny.

lol i think the only people saying essendon are essendon supporters themselves.. Whereas most of the other people from other clubs are saying Crows...
Plus i know Adelaide smash Essendon in this department so all this is for me is confirmation.

Vince, Knights and Porps are not kids. Vince is about to turn 24, Knights is 24 next year and Porps is about to turn 25.

FFS these blokes are older that the average AFL age, their careers have already exceeded that of the AFL average, and 6 years into the system you could argue they are already half way through their respective careers.

Every argument about kids and their potential Adelaide supporters through these names into the ring.

If you morons want to use Porps I could throw around Swan for the Pies, hell Didak is only 1 year older.

If you want to claim Vince I'll give you Heath Shaw and Harry O'brien.

Travis Cloke is over a year younger than the youngest of those 3 Crows.

My point is that you homo's through up middle aged players then throw your hands the right in a mass flogging session claiming a win.

True. Lucas seemed to do OK though...

Walkers season at age 19
Games - 14
Goals - 23
Scoring Shots - 42

1.6 Goals per game

Lloyds season at age 19
Games - 20
Goals - 63
Scoring Shots - 96

3.15 per game ;)

Very similar, with Walker just ahead in each aspect. Lloyd was slightly younger so pretty even...

Edited for accuracy.

How you can compare a 17 year old to a 19 year old is beyond me.

Awesome.. A mixture of good young midfielders, and some good young midfielders.. Better hope there is life after Tarrant/Sandi/Pav

As for the OP, Adelaide, easily.

I have tried to do an analysis between the two lists of players that were listed.

Bernie Vince - Jobe Watson
Chris Knights - Angus Monfries
Nathan van Berlo - Brent Stanton
David Mackay - Brent Prismall
Brad Symes - Nathan Lovett-Murray
Kurt Tippett - Jay Neagle
Andy Otten - Courtenay Dempsey
Richard Douglas - Ricky Dyson
Patrick Dangerfield - Kyle Reimers
Taylor Walker - Darcy Daniher
Ivan Maric - Tom Bellchambers
Jared Petrenko - Jay Nash
James Sellar - Scott Gumbleton
Brad Moran - Darcy Daniher
Myke Cook - Bachar Houli
Brodie Martin - Heath Hocking
Jonathon Griffin - Paddy Ryder
Shaun McKernan - Cale Hooker
Greg Gallman - David Myers
Jarrhan Jacky - Leroy Jetta
Tony Armstrong - Sam Lonergan
Aaron Kite - Jarrod Atkinson
James Moss - Henry Slattery
Phil Davis - Tayte Pears
Rory Sloane - Tyson Slattery

quote]

Few points
  • No way can Watson be classfied as being better than Vince.
  • Prismall and Mackay are about even.
  • Otten > Dempsey and Danger > Riemers
  • How the hell is Tom Bellchambers better than Maric? lol. I would say even at best.
  • Hooker better then McKernan? dream on.. that statement is absurd.
  • You can hardly compare Martin vs Hocking. What more can you ask from Martin?
  • You haven't even seen Armstrong, Davis or Sloane yet so those claims are pretty pointless. Davis i reckon is on par with Pears talent wise but your call is fair enough. Saying Slattery > Sloane is just astounding... how can you make such a statement?
Essendon have MORE 'youngsters' compared to Adelaide (due to bottoming out and giving more games to youngsters) so obviously your rating system will heavily favour Essendon. Considering the mean scores however, Adelaide shits all over Essendon.

P.S Neagle is a spud :thumbsu::D:p

You say comparing Hooker and McKernan is absurb I am assuming because McKernan hasnt played an AFL game. Yet you think it's fair to compare Davis and Pears. Your logic is so biased.

P.S Walker is a talentless hack.

So your saying every Essondon response on this thread has no bias?
I just wanted to point out that those claims are SERIOUSLY biased.

FYI McKernan has played an AFL game but that's not the point. McKernan is a massive prospect and Hooker is average at best.

'Yet you think it's fair to compare Davis and Pears' - at no point in my analysis did i even hint at this statement. I did however hint that these comparable claims made by your fellow Essendon supporter are pointless, not fair. I simply said that I believe their talent is similar and i further go on to say that the statement made is fair enough call.

'McKernan is a massive prospect and Hooker is average at best.' That's the sort of statement I call biased. McKernan was a low 2nd round pick and has shown NOTHING at AFL level whilst Hooker and played on big names in big matches and has competed well. We have high hopes that he can hold down a key position post in defence next year.

The fact is, Essendon have finished lower then Adelaide over the past few years so we obvioulsy will have better prospects due to lower draft picks. Adelaide supporters can talk up speculative picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds as 'gems' as much as they want. Fact is Ryder, Gumbleton, Myers and Hurley are all top 7 picks and would of been picked by any team before any of their Adelaide counterparts in their respective drafts.

Unless Adelaide supporters are infering their recruting and scouting people are so superior to Essendon's (which is an extrememley arrogant viewpoint), you can't argue that we would have better quality kids due to their draft positions, and thats the upside to not playing alot of finals recently.

This thread has become more and more ridiculous. Let's check back in 10 years and see who won flags and who didn't.
