whats everyones thoughts on this weekends match against adelaide? can we win? we we lose by 100+ again?

personally i think we may take it up to them, easpecially if fevola bags a few, and if ohailpin plays (and plays good). Nick stevens is over due for a BOG performance. Lappin is always holding the backline together.

If you play like you did against Tigers, Hawks you'll murder us. But you've been so inconsistent, if you're off your game and Blues come to play, we're not without a chance.

I ain't putting money on it though.

I just hope we show some fight this week.

And okcrows - last game means nothing. Last time we were flogged by 100 points we came out the next week and beat Collingwood.

Adelaide look the best they have all year - on paper anyway & that nemesis "Burton" is back, how many goals has he kicked against us that dribble over the back of the pack in the goalsquare - amazing - every time we play them he gets at least 1 like that.

Not too sure what to expect - a gutsy performance would be good & some positive play.
Would not suprise to see Carlton hit their straps & play some good footy & cause an upset.
I'd love to see Mott make a significant improvement & cement the No. 1 ruck mantle.

okcrow,

I did tip Adelaide, because they should win.

But, I did say that I wouldn't be suprised if the blues get up.

I will just point out a couple of things in your post...

The ladder, Adelaide are three spots further up then Carlton, that's not much difference. Use have just struck form, at the start of the season use were pretty average to say the least.

I just want to point out, that use played Hawthorn and won by 86 points, and we played St Kilda and lost by 108 points.... remember, we did play St Kilda and to be honest, Adelaide are nothing at all like the Saints.

The crows lost to St Kilda by how much early in the season , under 3 goals I think wasn' it

Don't know whether this is a bad sign, but I'm feeling the most confident since the Richmond demolition game. Would be surprised if Carlton get within 5 goals. Hope I don't eat my words.

I will be happy to get within 5 goals, given Carltons form at the moment which has been woeful since the 10 minute mark of the 3rd term Vs Bulldogs. If Carlton continue their reluctance/refusal to man up then a scoreline similar to last week is not out of the question :(

Actually, I'd have to agree with you.

Adelaide have been incredibly inconsistent, and I suppose even a 194 point turn-around from last weeks form is possible.

But 194 points ! And finally, Adelaide are playing one at home, and coming of an away win. In fact, I'm struggling to think of a bigger margin in an away win for Adelaide than last week, BTW. I suppose my post was just a reaction to "Adelaide haven't been impressive" after what was possibly their biggest away win of their history - and after your mob had had a drubbing themselves.

But - given Adelaide's amazing inconsistency this year - anything is possible.

Yet you forget to mention that we faced the best side in the competition who have been undefeated and have an average winning margin of over 40 points. You faced the worst side in the competition, whose average losing margin is over 40 points IIRC.

A 22 point difference in margins shouldn't hide that fact... as 22 points is not much different in a game of footy these days.

The game will be closer than most people think. Adelaide this year haven't been too flash either, and are awfully inconsistent. Remember that only a couple of weeks ago your side was below us on the ladder, giving us an proof that things can change quickly.

All of Adelaide, Hawthorn, and Collingwood have dropped considerably from last year. Adelaide and Collingwood especially from a top four side to a bottom four side in a matter of a year - reminds me of the Carlton drop when were were finalists in 2001 then dropped to last in 2002.

You were right, as it turned out, in the end.

I tell you what though, I just couldn't believe the inconsistency of Adelaide. The first quarter compared to the rest of the game ... unbelievable difference. Adelaide just not good enough.

Well done Blues in the end, especially the last quarter.

Well thats footy lol.

Thanks for being a good sport okcrow :)

I remember when we lost to Melbourne by 105 points and came out and overan Collingwood.

Carlton is a proud club, anything is possible.

Arrhhh, ate my words big time! Last time I will feel confident for the year. Congrats to the Blues on a gutsy come from behind effort. Campo & Stevens took over control of the midfield & Fevola never looked like missing.
