Adelaide's decline

I’m not sure how timing is relevant, PMing an opposition supporter to troll is poor form.
Is there a good time? What a moronic inference
I agree that the act itself is poor, but I'm happy stating that it was poor timing given how good we've looked since that Brisbane game.

Not sure the word 'moronic' was necessary, Greenac. We can have a civil discussion about this, you know.

So apparently the timing is only poor when you look at it retrospectively? Does that mean if you guys don't win a final this year the post all of a sudden looks good again?

This is embarrassing on another level. Deleting accounts may be your only way to save face here. Let me know if you need help with tying your shoelaces.

Righto.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

The players and coaches don’t deserve our boos though, it’s the administration we have major problems with.
Going back to Trigg and the Tippett fiasco. Another way of looking at this could be that the sanctions they received for that are really biting now and that they drastically over performed in the last few seasons and papered over the gaps a bit.

Imagine being this arrogant when you have so little to be arrogant about.

I think people overrate and overstate how "successful" the Crows have been in recent years, probably because they've seemed like a professional and well-run and financially-sound club, and have never (until now) been a real cellar-dweller on field.

From 2010-2019, the Crows made the finals in 4 out of 10 seasons, with a 5-5 record in finals. They've finished in the top 4 twice, but 10th or below 6 times in that decade-long stretch. Overall, they've been very mediocre on-field for a long time.

Even so, sanctions are meant to punish and compared to the other clubs that have been hit hard recently, Carlton and Essendon who've yet to really recover from their penalties, the Crows by comparison looked to have got off relatively scott free until now

They also have a premiership drought matched only by Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda and Fremantle.

To Port supporters liking this post (Established1870 and Schulzenfest), you have made finals 3 times since 2008 and never finished top 4 at the end of the home and away season.

Calling a club mediocre for having a 5-5 finals record and a GF appearance over the last decade puts into question, how many mediocre clubs are there? Port have a far worse record over this period, so are they considered below average? The only genuine good teams over this period are the Hawks, Geelong, Sydney, Eagles and Richmond, and at a stretch Collingwood as they did win a flag at the start of this decade.

Yes, absolutely.

Any other gotcha questions?

Your answer as a Port Adelaide fan is yes, we have been below average over the last decade.
But that's not the point or the topic is it?

It isn’t, but it provides context to a pretty broad statement made by Damon_3388 that the Crows are mediocre. If people want to start throwing that around, they should be prepared to provide some context with it.

Because 23 years without a premiership in an 18 team comp can in no way be named a drought and they've had periods of success under Ayres, Craig and Pyke.

Only a Melbourne supporter would call anything that the Crows did under Ayers or Craig a 'period of success'. Ayers especially.

Mind boggling. The very title and discussion of this thread is Adelaide's decline yet the deflection and 'inclusion' of the PAFC from crows types is remarkable.

Hey hey hey! Theres no need for that here. Melbourne's (and Carlton's for that matter) woes have been discussed at length in other threads. Lets try to remain focused here. This is about Adelaide and how theyve hit rock bottom and are starting to dig.

Don't think enough has been said about the impact the covid break had on us, first-year coach and young side who were already destined to struggle. Then forced to train in groups of 8 with no real hope of working on structure or making any sort of adjustments. Not trying to make excuses but it's not exactly ideal scenarios for young inexperienced players to flourish.

This is true but I have watched a lot of the Crows this year (thank COVID) and I wouldn't have said it was the young players letting you down, if anything they have been the bright spark. It is the lack of effort from experienced players and a coach that seems to have no idea how to get the side to play the way he wants (or they are playing the way he wants which is a much worse scenario).

Do you think it has anything to do with the overrepresentation of PAFC fans?
