Adelaide's decline

But in SA surely there is anger building that those in charge have presided over this?

You would be surprised. There are more people from Port who want Hinkley sacked, then Adelaide fans who want the board sacked. From what I have seen of social media, they want Nicks sacked when he has had zero input into the list and the worst football department in the AFL. about 95% of their fans are just plain dumb and have no idea about how the sport works. They think they will go and land a few names coaching wise and playerwise. They won't. They have shown themselves to be petty conniving tools who are now in a world of pain. The only way they will get out of this is through 3+ years of hand work and nailing fighting for every scrap they can get. The SA media's brains trust's great plan for them right now is to pinch port players as if they can just snap their fingers and make players want to come to them.

Don't think enough has been said about the impact the covid break had on us, first-year coach and young side who were already destined to struggle. Then forced to train in groups of 8 with no real hope of working on structure or making any sort of adjustments. Not trying to make excuses but it's not exactly ideal scenarios for young inexperienced players to flourish.

I am sure it hasn't helped, but go and have a look at how other teams have managed it. Carlton playing better than ever. Pretty much any young kid we have brought in has slotted in. I could just as easily make the argument that covid has helped the kids. Plenty of kids dominating this year and the long break would have brought the veteran's fitness base back to the pack a bit. I think you have to face facts that a) your list is currently terrible b) your football department is currently terrible and c) your board is currently terrible. Those 3 things would amount to a terrible side in any year. Gotta get fid of alot of deadwood and start from scratch otherwise you will have a 10 yr Carlton level of crap.

Tex Walker seems to be a pretty big part of the problem. He is an absolute cancer at the Crows. He will probably go down as the Mark Neeld of onfield leaders.

I don't know how he's even getting a game at this stage. I watched the 2nd half of the Crows V Bulldogs game today and the Crows got demolished. The whole time I was watching I never saw Tex come close to getting the ball but he was an absolute traffic cone in defence. He's had a great career for a 75th draft pick but his injuries have destroyed him. Time for him to hang up the boots and retire.

Run home of:

Geelong
Hawthorn at home
GWS at home
Carlton
Richmond

Hawthorn, maybe?

But looking pretty grim for them tbh.
On top of 3 losses to close out 2019, going winless will take them to...

I still think they would beat our 2011 side though.

It honestly feels like perpetuating the myth of Taylor Walker is taking priority over what's best for the team/club.

Tex isn't an isolated incident, he's just another. Sloane not far off either. Can you believe we extended him on elite mid $ after we found out he can be tagged out of the game by a c grader? But gotta back in and reward these 'loyal club men'. ****ing disastrous, but we've been doing it for years.

They’re worse than GWS and GC when they entered the comp, with the added bonus of not having the gun kids. Horrible team.

They honestly need to clean the joint out. What’s the point of having a nothing footballer like Talia on your list?

Players from the 2017 debacle that I’d try and keep: Smith, Brown, one of the Crouches, Sloane.

I honestly don’t see any point in keeping other players around. I’m not saying players like Laird aren’t good, but really, what you’re going to get in a trade would be much more valuable.

They should still be winning games with a senior core of Sloane, Doedee, Laird, Smith, Crouch x 2, Walker, Lynch, Talia, Seedsman, O’Brien and Milera.

Yes they’ve had a lot of injuries and some of those guys have missed big chunks of the year but something is incredibly wrong if they can’t atleast find a single win somewhere. Those expansions sides were hopeless.

Christ, will they win one game?
There have been a few candidates for not winning a single game in a season, most notable Freo in 2001 who waited until (funnily enough) round 18 that year, so they did make it to 17 losses first.

These sides always seem to bob up with a few, but in a shortened season it’s a real risk these guys won’t.
