Adelaide's decline

I love a good pile on but some of this is dramatic garbage. I'm sure they'll rebuild and be back in contention within 7 years like most well-run clubs in the AFL.
This is the issue, we are not well-run at all. Absolutely the worst run-club in the league bar none.

What i find odd is that the crows were always able to pick and develop talent better than most in the league.
And when players left, another one stepped into the fold.

One for Crows fans - was it Rendell leaving that left a void?
By all reports, he could spot talent quite well and kept them coming through the door as players were being pinched.

Made a similar mistake to Essendon circa 01/02. Topping up to chase the flag they missed rather than turning the list over.
Gibbs trade seriously set them back.
Have lost a lot of talent in recent years too. Danger, Greenwood, Keath, Lyons, Cameron, Lever.
Needed to really land the recent drafts to compensate and they've been quite un-Crows like of late when it comes to picking players.

The two first round-ish rated prospects I really didn't want my club to draft two years ago were Chayce Jones and Ned McHenry. Very un-Crows like picks, those ones. Matt Rendell knew the value of drafting players who have the size to compete at AFL level, especially with first rounder. Apparently their new recruiter doesn't. Even Fogarty is probably too short to play the role that they want him to play.

Fogarty is averaging 6 touches and 1 goal a game so far this year. Not suited for the modern game. Far from a 'young gun'.

Good stats given our game plan is currently: barely win possession and when you do hack it to half forward without looking. We've averaged 6 goals a game!

He is the absolute least of the club's concerns.

I've never seen a crows game plan in such disarray.

How did Brisbane end up with both Cameron and Lachie Neale?

Isn't Neale from Adelaide?

Says a lot that the Crows couldn't land him.

Absolute rabble with absolutely no clue about talent.
Even James Aish would slot into their best 22, would be a top 10 player for them right now. SA boy that was pushed out of Collingwood with cap issues. Would have been the perfect money ball type trade.

He’s always been a big boy but needs to get some conditioning as he develops. He is probably the most talented young player on our list. Doedee the next. And then it drops off massively.

Not convinced Chayce Jones or Galucci will amount to anything. Even someone like Milera is average at best.

We’ve busted a few top end picks now

I don't think he's currently an issue.

But 'big boy' is a cop out.

He dead set looks about 10kg's overweight and I'm not talking Dane Swan/Cam Zurhaar they just have barrell chests, a big core and kind of look fat, but aren't.

He looks more like a NRL player on a KFC diet than an AFL player at the moment.

He looks like he has a genuine muffin top.

Sorry but failing basketball career? That it wasn't. College then to Wildcats. He was pretty promising but his love of AFL trumped.

The writing has been on the wall for a while now. Charlie Cameron leaving post 2018 didn't help.

When you have players leaving and failing to secure/keep draftees tells alot about the club.
Only a matter of time before the depth just couldn't hold on.
Hugh Greenwood was a mature ager that converted from basket ball to Aussie rules.

Alex Keath is also a mature ager converted from Cricket to Aussie rules.

both have been traded out.

Charlie Cameron is born in Mount Isa in Queensland, and spent the 1st 15 or so years of his life there. He, along with his family moves to WA. He plays in the WAFL for a season and is picked up by the crows. 3 years later he is back in his home state of Queensland.

Neale situation was slightly different. He is from the 2011 draft just like Chad wingard. And also like wingard, was out of contract until 2019, that makes it 8 years and that means he would be a free agent.

Neale forced freo a trade to Brisbane, who was offering around $750-$800,000 a year. He was on $500,000 a year in his deal at freo.

Also most importantly. And this is Ironic. Crows list manager until late 2016-early 2017 was David Noble. David Noble has been at Brisbane since he left the crows and I do think he has done a good job since he joined Brisbane

So yesterday I saw Horse, J McVeigh and Dean Cox in the coach's box.

That 4 flags and 1,000 odd games?

Plus we have Kinnear Beatson in recruiting. An absolute veteran.

Crows have left poor old Nicksy like a lamb to the slaughter.
Suprised the swans didnt give Martin Matter a job after he reitred in 2013.

Had 2 very good years at sturt and getting 2 SANFL flags in 2016 and 2017.

Lachie Neale was only on $500k at Freo? The guy is in the top 10 players in the league. No wonder he left.

Love Riccuito’s picking on Greenwood..
What about the Crouch brothers? Never seen such a bunch of accumulators that have no effect on game yet aren’t touted as elite. 30+ touches doing what? Not a tag on them even doing those numbers.

Apparently they are going to get 1st rounders for the Crouch brothers next year.

Funny thing is they probably could have if they'd bit the bullet and done it last year. But there's nothing like a historically bad season to expose your players' flaws.
