Adelaide's decline

Adelaide's fitness is the worst I have seen since ours circa 2011 under the great Cam Falloon. How long is the person in charge of this areas contract? This is one of the most important areas, and when fixed a team can easily win a few more games.
Matt Haas, one of Burton’s sidekicks who completely destroyed Brisbane’s fitness as well. Turfed out a highly competent fitness coach who wanted to be here in Matty Bode (now at Carlton) , because he didn’t get along with Roo’s best mate Burton.

I don't see the point of getting Tex to 200 games he's not some great champion, for all the BiG tExAn talk over his career he's achieved three 5th's of bugger all & defenders have been running off him for years just drop the campaigner.

Still kicked 40+ goal with 20+ goal assists last year as well, but the cliff has come quickly in 2020. He is an absolute champion and captained our club brilliantly through it’s toughest period and managed to help get us to a GF within 2 years of our coach getting murdered. However, he would have to know that physically his body just isn’t capable anymore and tbh mentally I think the last 3 years of media and public bashing would take its toll as well.

Would be very surprised if he goes on next year, but he deserves to play his 200th.

That’s right, Hawks weren’t great that year
Hawks were ladder leaders for a lot of 2001.

I remember Carlton (at the time a heavyweight and about to scalp the bombers) beating Freo by 1pt in the opening round. No one would have predicted them to suddenly go 0-17.

In retrospect, funny that Freo's two wins were against finalists. Was a shameful upset at the time. Most pundits scratched the Hawks after that loss, before a decent finals showing.

Shit, I’ve got my wires crossed. They made the PF!

Freo, Saints and Eagles in 2001 were all equally awful, Freo just couldn't buy a win. The other two were getting pummelled regularly.

4 of Eagles 5 wins were against Freo/Saints, and their percentage was several points worse than Freo. Last 3 rounds were brutal, conceding 65 goals to QF sides.

His highest achievement is making the AA squad not team one year he's not a champion end of story.

That’s crap mate. I understand Port supporters don’t like him but his career stats speak for themselves, unless somehow those stats I posted above don’t mean much in your view? In 2017 he kicked 54 and had 33 goal assists within the highest scoring forwardline in the league, it was ridiculous that he missed out on the AA team that season. Twice voted by his peers as captain of the year, so despite the crap he cops on here he is highly respected in club circles. The only thing missing from his resume is a premiership, but even some of the absolute greats never played in one so that doesn’t define whether you were a champion.

Fitzroy in 1964 was the last time a team went winless. They were days of disparity between teams

It should not happen in modern times with the equalisation measures In place.
If we go through the season winless... the 1st team to do so in the modern AFL... then surely we get priority pick assistance.

Anything voted on by the players is like a gold star at kindy it means nothing.

Hugh Greenwood would like those use of stats.

If stats were a measure of a champion then Kane Cornes would be one. Matt Crouch too.

Tex is good around goals, or was, but over his whole career he has offered little else to the side. He's been a good Crows player but any talk of him being a champion is ludicrous.

Played in a gf in 2017.
Chose to trade away two first rounders for Bryce Gibbs.

Wont be a heap of sympathy for a priority.

Some sides havent made a grand final in a long time. E.g. Essendon, Carlton, North and Melbourne.

Walker had 4 pretty good (not great) seasons as a player. The Dead Coach Captain of the year titles are s load of sh*t though and get brought up by breathless Crow **** to try and justify Walkers pretend greatness.
What is it with Port supporters complete inability to recognize Tex’s good career? On what planet does someone sit at number 7 on that list above, also number one in a year his team makes the GF, yet you still think he’s just a solid to ok player? Does Kane hold some brainwashing sessions at Port headquarters that we don’t know about?

Tex is good around goals... ahhh, so he is good at exactly what his role description is? 🤪 He wasn’t in the side for pressure acts, his role was to kick goals and setup his teammates in scoring positions, which he’s done very well at. He led his team to a GF because of being elite in those categories that you want in a key forward.

If you had have stuck with this description you wouldn't get much argument.

Instead you went with some desperate pleading argument for him to be recognised as a champion.

2009-11: Emerging
2012: 60+ goals and started to announce himself as a start of the comp
2013-14: ACL and recovery
2015-17: Star, and led the comp in score involvements in 2017
2018-now: Decline (although still managed 43 goals and 10th in the Coleman last year)

Look, calling him a champion is a stretch (champion of the club, but not the league). He may not have quite achieved his potential (his ACL would have played a part in that) but he's still carved out an excellent career. The end is here though, and the decline came pretty rapidly, almost Travis Cloke-like.

Travis Cloke is a premiership player, a dual All-Australian and a B&F winner. Taylor has never achieved any one of those accolades, let alone all four of them. Travis also made it to 250+ games whereas Taylor looks like he'll barely make 200.

Was Travis Cloke a 'champion'? Debatable. Probably not. Is Taylor Walker a 'champion'? Not even close.

Carrying him to his 200th, which he absolutely deserves, but what his body is physically capable of just isn’t at AFL standard anymore and I hope that his 200th is also a farewell game. Even his field kicking has completely deserted him. I would be keeping him on the list next year only if he agrees to being a non playing assistant coach.
Geez he’d speak slower than Gary Ayers! Breaks are only 6 and 20 minutes long you know!
