Sorry, where did I say anyone wants him or anyone for that matter to fail?

I simply said Saturday's game would give 'those who think he's expendable' - ie, those who'd have him replaced in the midfield by Van Berlo/Douglas/Porplyzia - an idea as to how our onball division performs without what he brings to the table.

We had the same thing at Newcastle with Gary Speed. A lot of people wanted him gone, but when Gaz got injured and was replaced by the young gun combo of Jenas and Dyer our central midfield turned into butter.

While one isolated game isn't that great an indicator per se, I am adamant Shirley is one of those players who you don't fully appreciate until they're gone. Saturday will give us a glimpse as to life without Rob in the guts.

Not even sure that deserves a response.

At 26/27 he adds experience to the side that you'd have to agree a 20/21 year old with less than 20 games experience no matter how more talented is going to suffer somewhat by comparison.

The only comment I'd make on the highlighted section is that life moves on ....as much as Roo is a great player when he moves on there will be a nother fine player stepping up to fill the breach .....such is the circle of life;)

You ain't getting it.

Fine and Sunny with a top of 28 degrees ;)

:( It'll be a close game ....just needed something to tip thegame in our favour.

IMO a fast surface will favour Port

I might as well nail my colours to the mast. I think Port will win by 3 or 4 goals. :)

Of course I hope we flog you but anyway lets have a game that's not marred by injuries to either side. :thumbsu:

What? Us get through a Port home showdown without a knee injury to a major player?

I wish :(

Would they have Cornes, Wakelin, Thurstans and Chaplain in the same line up though?
We did against Freo.

Just a question on Perrie. Is he fully fit this year. I mean in terms of endurance. I recall a showdown, possibly the first one last year where he just ran and ran and collected a lot of possessions from half forward up to the midfield. What I've seen of him this year he didn't appear to be doing that. If he's short of running power I think Wakelin might get him.

He covered some more ground last week, is regaining full fitness. Certainly in Round 1 he looked short of a gallop.

He was nowhere near fit in Round 1, when he played in a trial for North the week before he looked stuffed and I was surprised to see him fit. He moved better last week so he seems to be gaining match fitness quickly.

i hope we do bring chaplin back, because all four of our players on the bench are known as forwards..not much relief for the guys down back.

I wonder if Craig will still be as reluctant to switch Stevens and Bock as he was against Essendon when Lucas was raping us, now that Stevens has shown some good form up forward. The need to shake things up could well arise, if Tredrea comes up and Lade hits some form up forward.

I'm just not relying too much on Tredrea. There's a big difference obviously between the SANFL and AFL. I didn't see the Norwood game but I did hear Stephen Williams saying that Tredrea was not at his best in terms of mobility. I think he'll give us more than Cockshell did against the Roos but that's not saying a lot. If he's going to come good I think it'll take a month or so to run into form.

pretty good side on paper, obviously missing stiffy will hurt but the ins are very good.

Expecting C Cornes to tear us a new one again, I may even get him in as my dream team captain. Who do you think he will man up on, Bock?

Ha ha - good one toots :D
We don't cut Thurstans much slack on our board so when you see reviews like this you can assume he's gone OK.
Thurstans - Wow! Destroyed Tarrant, someone that could have destroyed us. Most surprising was his presence and his composure in the second half. Grabbed the ball hard, avoided tackles, dished off handballs. Very good.
Tarrant kicked one goal after Thurstans went onto him and he wound up with double Tarrant's disposals.

Why would he upset the side? You don't mean that 'the players don't like him' rubbish do you?

I think we should have Thomson in for Krakouer. We're loading up with small pinch hitters.

How long did Knights spend in the forward line last week?
