Don't use the Live Paint bucket, colour in the shape you have created by selecting it, then clicking on a swatch. Probably best to bring up the Swatch tab before doing so, so go to Window>Swatches
For example, if you selected one of the cuffs with the White arrow, you could then click on the Swatch (once you'd brought up all the swatches) and change the colour of it.

Thank you SO much, that's definitely improved my work.

Now my next question is probably similar to another one posted.

I cant get the yellow and white lines to disappear from the outside of the jumper. I tried doing what Mr E said about clipping masks, but it didn't work. :/ Ideas?

What do you mean?
Read Mr E's post again:
OK, put the jumper shape above the yoke in the layer order.

Now select both the jumper and the yoke and select Object > Clipping Mask > Make.

This will group the two items together, make the jumper shape disappear and leave visible only the bit of the yoke that was previously under the jumper shape. If you look in the layer panel you should now see that you've got a Clipping Path there instead of the jumper shape. You can change the fill colour of the Clipping Path to get the jumper back into view. You can also move other items into that group if you want them to be constrained by the same Clipping Path.

I think :D
You also have to copy the jumper shape layer and than paste it back on once the clipping mask is made.

How to line things up.
Go to Windows>Transform and click to open the Transform tab.
This gives X and Y values, and W (width) and H (Height) values for selected paths.

Finding the mid point of a footy jumper, select the jumper and look for the X value.
Then draw a line, using the Line tool, holding down Shift to make sure it stays straight.
With the line selected, enter the same value for X for the line that the jumper has.
Eg 165.745 on most of my footy jumpers.
This bring the line to the exact centre of the jumper.
You can also go to View>Guides>Make Guide and leave the straight line there, if you're aligning other paths with the middle of the jumper.

If the nominal size for my image is 400x400 px, how do I rasterize it into, say, an 800x800px image?

What I've been doing is just copying and pasting into PS and resizing it lol.

Why not just increase the size in Illustrator?
Right Click> Transform>Scale
Change it to 200%, save the raster image
Then go back and Ctrl-Z to undo.
Now your original image is back to the same, but the image you saved it twice as big.

What do we save these as? Im not seeing any PNG file types.... :/

Not Save As, use Save for Web & Devices.
Brings up a dialog box, which offers many presets.
(Pull down menu just under Save, Cancel, Done boxes)
Choose png, press Save.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to save colours so that I can use the same colours across multiple documents. I know that you can do this by saving swatches. I saw the swatches tab previously, but seems to have disappeared and cannot for the life of me find it.

I feel that this is something basic, so am a touch frustrated.

In the menu bar click Window and then Swatches
I'm on CS6 but I assume it's the same across the board

Download this" http://www.bomberblitz.com/mero/AFL Palette.ai
Paste it into Program Files>Adobe>Adobe Illustrator>Presets>en_GB>Swatches
(If you have Windows 7 or 8 that might be Program Files (x86) and it also might be en_US if you registered with US as the language setting.)
This is the AFL colours, as shown in other places in this forum.
When you want to use them, open the Swatches Tab (which is usually open as a default)
Click on the box in the very bottom left hand corner, if you mouse over it will say Swatches Libraries Menu.
This brings up the list of all the Swatches you have.
Click on AFL Palette to use these colours.

Also, here's the colours Kombat use for their footy jumpers:
http://www.bomberblitz.com/mero/Kombat palette.ai
Save that to the same place.

PS IF you want to save colours as a new palette, delete all the old colours and save a file with just the swatches you want into the directory listed above.

Does anyone have a edible template that has layers?

You can't eat templates, but I can suggest an onion. It has layers.

Does anyone have a edible template that has layers? I've tried using Mero's templates but all they have is the design and the logos? I would like to try AI seeing as many of the forumers use it.

Which templates have you tried?
Are you using them in Illustrator?

The ones in a .rar any yes tried to use them in AI

I don't put my files in a rar file.
Are you talking about the soccer jerseys?
They're Photoshop files.
Try opening them in the PS and you'll find more Layers.
They're very well structured and organised.
