thanks whats the difference between a raster and vector logo?

Raster graphics are comprised of pixels. They'll look distorted and weird once you try to alter the size of the image.

Vector graphics, however, are comprised of anchors and paths. Because they don't rely on pixels, they can be endlessly re-sized for no loss of image quality. Here, this may explain it:

Yeah sorry the .eps file has a white background - just use the direct select tool (the white cursor in the left hand side tools panel) and click somewhere in the white background behind the actual AFL logo - and press delete.

not sure how to paint the shorts???

should just select them and colour them using the colour menu on the left side (which is black in your screenshot - should turn brown when you select the shorts)

The same way you 'painted' the jumper - click the brown bits and click a swatch tab on the top right.

Also, I'd advise turning the layers panel on (window --> layers, tick it)

no im not to sure about layers read a bit but dont really get it

everytime i bring it to the front its not their and its not in my layers tab

It is there. It may be hidden in a folder.

You should see 4 Layers, Jumper-adidas, Shorts, Socks and Layer4 Which is the background.
Click on the little arrow next to Jumper-adidas and it open up some groups.
One of them is Front
Click on the little arrow next to that
That opens up everything in the Group.
The AFL logo will be in one of the other Layers.
Cut it and paste it in front of the stripes by doing this.
Click on the AFL logo. Ctrl-X (it disappears)
Go to the stripes above the jumper, click Ctrl-F
It pastes it in front.
Re-size to what you think it should be

move the little slider at the side up.
Directly above what you screen capped there is the Dreamtime logo
I know they're in a group called Front because I made the template.

Grab the edge of the Layers tab and expand it.
Place your cursor over the edge and when you get up and down black arrows click to grab and move it downwards.
That will make the Layers tab bigger

well the back stripes are going to be in the back section.

Image everything layered one thing on top of another.
That's how it works, and that's why they call them layers.

In this there's a background. On top of that that there's the Socks.
On the of that is the Shorts.
And so on to the very top which is probably the striping on the collars.

It's an older version of Illustrator, but I would think the file is still the same.
