it would be nice if he could compel the current list to win a final.
They haven't done that since Dodo signed his first employment contract with the Bombers
There’s a major difference that differentiates this list build from many previous efforts that few on here are able to recognise. On this occasion the club has a much stronger culture and is totally aligned across the club. History indicates this is critical to facilitating on field success. Not since the turn of the century has Essendon had its house in order to this extent. Free of scandals, no visible factions, misalignment and leaks from within. Paul Brashers review has set the club on a journey of success by leading the implementation of a new purpose and vision which has total buy in.

Further, the coaching group is far superior and reflects the focus and skill set of this lists demographic and needs. It has a strong head of footy in place now whose connected the entire club.

Most objective observers acknowledge a list laden with talent. We’ve been here before at Essendon.. This iteration comprises among the most talented list of under 26yo’s in the AFL. It will solve a small forward gap via next years father son pick (Davey twins) and may / may not need a full forward with great hope that it may have one there in Kane Baldwin. The list is broadly in place with high end talent across the ground. It now simply needs to develop and connect. Playing 40-50 more games together is necessary and will mean 2022/3 will be development and evolution of a talented list towards winning finals.

Dodoro and his team have largely done their job. It’s now over to the coaches, fitness staff, medical teams and Josh Mahoney to ensure a high performance environment is maintained.

Finals success in the next 3/4 years will not be determined by whether the list is talented enough. It will be determined by whether the club can remain focussed and aligned in the coming years to see this list through .

Essendon success from here is all about how strong and aligned it is, top down. It was heartening and impressive to see this new found connection and culture on display last night as 5 current players, including the captain were on hand to greet recruit Ben Hobbs. That speaks of a strong culture. To this point the signs are promising.

That's a very good post but completely wasted in this cesspit of a thread. Fact is, Adrian is completely on top of his game these days and every other club would take him in a heartbeat if they could.

I can't believe it, Dodoro does it again. Gets Alastair Lord with pick 46 when they would have taken him with pick 2 behind obvious pick 1 Hobbs.

Absolute genius this man!
Pity the genius got trumped on Arlo Draper , thanks Cats for the pick swap to make this upstart drown in his own cesspool

Oh boy I truly hope you’re not categorising yourself as an ‘objective observer’ here.

That was a jarring read.

Seems to have won everyone over again with the “Hobbsy steal” but surely it’s time for an Essendon list to deliver a finals win in 2022, Adrian. I mean, jesus christ… how long has he been running the show over there again!?

Is there any evidence that the Dodoro/SOS strategy actually works? Melbourne supporters have loved the Josh Mahoney/Tim Lamb strategy of getting deals done early, then seeing if other deals can be done. And they often got canned on Bigfooty for paying overs. The proof is in the pudding. The list build has worked, whist the Bombers and Blues have been floundering.

If Dodoro didn't fap around with the Dunkley deal, he could have got Treloar for a steal.
Are you actually going to puff your chest out about your list management? You won a flag because you sucked for 15 years and have more top 5 picks on your list than most clubs have in their entire history. You were almost there in in 2019 so instead of going again, you tanked for another top 5 pick to push you over the line. Your major list management strategy has been to poach players from GC and adelaide, how original.

The one thing that Melbourne has done well is hit on 2nd rounders well above average.

It is odd how the Bombers win every trade week ands draft but never a final hey.

Perhaps Timmy Watson and Jobe Watson and Mark Robinson and Rohan Connolly and Sarah Jones and all the other footy media geniuses could explain it.

Can’t believe how rent free this bloke lives inside the heads of all you nuffy’s, you come charging in here after Essendon draft a few kids, do you spuds realise he isn’t even the recruiting manager?
Rent free? We're hoping he stays on as part of your list management team because of the fantastic list he has built you guys over the past couple decades.

You also do realise he is your GM of Recruiting & List right? He's still heavily involved in your list management.

I know it’s difficult to understand for some on here, most posters here are trolling and lack the necessary depth of knowledge. As you o doubt know as a Carlton fan, it’s one thing to have a talented list. It’s another thing to convert this to success. Carlton in my view will improve markedly in 2022 beyond based on a similar rationale. That once you have alignment and focus, with talent the results can eventuate.

Agree on all.

Most objective observers acknowledge a list laden with talent.
Disagree. It is a decent developing list that still has significant holes and weakness, especially through a samey samey midfield that simply cannot deliver when the whips are cracking.

This may change but "laden with talent" is a significant overstretch. For example, which young Essendon players have shown they could truly be a top 5 in the league player?

See above. Has all the hallmarks of a list that does well in media awards but still splutters in September.

The most important young players on Essendon's list are Sam Draper and Jye Caldwell.

They have the capacity to become the centre square brutes that win finals.
