Based on your 'logic', what you're saying is Dodo only valued a contracted, younger Dunkley at the same value as an uncontracted, older Saad.

Hill wouldn’t have even been guaranteed a spot in our 22, probably a medi sub specialist.
Parish moving to the midfield is an upgrade on Dunkley anyway which he probably wouldn’t have done if Dunkley was in the team, we didn’t lose out there.
It doesn't really bother me if people think Dodoro is a dud but I have trouble being too upset about the Dunkley and Hill deals in isolation. The draft hand we raked in last year made up for missing out on Dunkley regardless of when they peak. I wouldn't trade 2 of Cox, Perkins and Reid for Dunkley now.
A second rounder for Hill was a pretty fair offer. They didn't accept - we all move on. We do have the Davey brothers to come next year in terms of small forwards so that probably put a cap on how much we were prepared to offer as well.
One thing i will say I like about Dodoro is the respect and care he shows for the players. You see it in the way he speaks about players and their families.
I reckon its a reason why players continue to nominate Essendon as a club they want to go to and they have been doing so from 2017 onwards pretty frequently.
Not all trades work out and that's just part of the game. I think a more genuine criticism is has he been able to build a well balanced list from an overall perspective? As a list manager that's probably where he's fell down rather than individual talent identification or trading.

My main criticism of Dodoro is just why has Essendon held onto him so long?
There are a ton of reasons why he doesn’t deserved to be fired but if you frame the question to why does Dodoro deserve to be employed for 20 years or whatever. There aren’t many good reasons I can think of when you compare him to his peers at other clubs.
Often it’s who you know, not what you know, or what you have (haven’t) achieved.
Bloke must be well connected with the club’s power brokers.
Even if someone is competent, two decades is too long for so many reasons.

AFL is a cutthroat industry and the weak are culled from the herd with relative ease, so perhaps he is good at what he does?
I love shitcanning him but you can’t say he doesn’t go into bat for the Bombers hard, even if it is detrimental to the overall outcome.
That’s what I loved about SOS, if it wasn’t a good deal (in his eyes) he’d dig his heels in.

Players leave for reasons bigger than just who the list manager is. I'm sure you realise that.
Showing respect and care does not equal giving the player everything they want. Could I personally speak to the relationship Dodoro had with Daniher? Of course not I have no idea and I doubt anyone on here does.
Wrong again. What dodo offered is different to what was traded. Dodo wanted McKay plus pick 8 for Saad.
