Haven't read the thread, but isn't it a bit risky to be giving up an early draft pick for a 24yo CHB who might be banned for 2 to 4 years ?

Will Essendon be offering a warranty or is it 'buyer beware' ?

They have a letter.

Ok, if you're an Essendon member then you're a part owner. When do you receive your dividend payment?

Oh you poor thing.

All businesses pay dividends do they?

And membership implies ownership? How odd....

I think he's easily worth pick 5 or below...and I understand why Dodoro would be wanting a decent quality pick.

Carlisle can take 15 marks in a game, swing from AA quality defensive unit and can play as a full forward, with a great forwards coach could kick 5 goals a game, he kicked 8 against the Bulldogs. He's also useful as a back up ruckman

I think in a really well trained team he'd excel..

He would come in right away and be of a high quality standard where as a pick 5 is a risk that could take years to develop.

Yes businesses pay profits to the owners. That's a dividend. They are legally required to maximise profits. A football club is not a business. I don't know how many more ways I can say this to make you understand.

No, membership doesn't imply ownership. But Essendon is owned by it's members, as is Carlton. Who did you think owned your club?

Make sure you say thanks to the expansion clubs for making the competition the weakest its been when winning the last 3..
No, we have the ACC and WADA to thank for "weakening" the competition.

Amazing how Hawthorn's kicking skills have come to the fore since Essendon was busted and the AFL put everyone on notice about their sports science and PEDs

No, money made us the most successful in the club in the sport along with the blues..
Enjoy your home games in Tasmania..

You know every other club laugh at your "most successful" club line?? Its like saying if Harvey breaks tucks record he is the most successful player of all time.

Enjoy your round robin flags!!!

Round robin? Nah too long ago. It's like you banging on about 99

Oh ho ho, god I love it when people trip over their own dribble.

A business can be not-for-profit, or it can be state owned. Matter of fact, a business can undertake any commercial activity it likes without necessarily paying profits or dividends. Go ahead, look it up.

Matter of fact, I wouldn't even bother, it's so basic and common sense that the fact you have to look it up is freakin hilarious.

So this statement;

"Yes businesses pay profits to the owners. That's a dividend. They are legally required to maximise profits. A football club is not a business. I don't know how many more ways I can say this to make you understand."

is what, your third FACTUALLY incorrect statement in this thread?

And yes, a football club IS a business (well at the very least AFL clubs are).

I gotta tell ya, it tickles me just right when people mash their keyboards thinking they are being clever, only to get found out for not having the slightest idea what they are talking about on the subject matter.

There's no point asking for reality if neither team has a middle ground IMO. Saints don't want to give 5, Essendon don't want to take 24 and there's bugger all in between. I can't see trading picks being likely. Where do you go from there?
Saints trade 5 and 24 with Adelaide for 9 and 14?

Don't be stupid.

We all know Fletcher has Harvey WELL covered.....

We broke a rule (though admittedly, rule 1.6 is 'odd' at best).

That doesn't erase the fact that commercially, the 'business' of football, we do extraordinarily well.

It is phenomenally well run in that regard. Among the best, possibly THE best.

Posters here of course are dense at best, and flat out handicapped at worst; unable or unwilling to look at the business that the club undertakes.
Your club is a joke.

He's not AA quality. If he was, he'd be - All Australian.

He could do a lot of stuff. So COULD lots of blokes. He has potential, sure, so do lots of blokes.

Pick 5 these days is pretty much guaranteeing a very good to top notch player short of unlucky injuries.

Jake Stringer was a pick 5 and he's already actual AA quality. He hasn't taken years to develop.

The last two pick 5s - Jordan De Goey and Kade Kolodshnblahblah have shown plenty already.

Ben Cunnington was a pick 5 and while he had a few injury issues early on, he's now an absolute blue chip inside midfielder.

Premiership players like Lance Franklin and Jarrad McVeigh were pick 5s. SCOTT PENDLEBURY WAS PICK 5.

FFS Michael Hurley was a pick 5, he's actual All Australian quality.

Jake Carlisle is not worth pick 5. Especially not after that shocking behaviour at the end of the season.

Your club is a joke.[/QUOTE]

Why thank you, I feel privileged that we are able to not only perform extraordinarily well commercially, but are able to make people smile while doing it.
