You take Monfries as a free agent you get no compo picks. We accept a throw away, unders price for Monfries and you get to keep your compo picks.

The poster presented the monfries trade as Essendon helping us keep our compo picks as evidence against whatever claims are being made in the op or following posts.


I simply pointed out that was only half the story , that in fact the trade benefitted Essendon as well as they would not have received any pick for monfries


The poster misrepresented the trade through omission of facts.

I pointed out those facts and somehow continue to be labelled a liar and moron by offended dons supporters

doesn't Keane do a lot of the scouting, and Dodoro the list management?

spotting talent is one aspect. you'd also want someone with their finger on the pulse of the list and recruitment landscape so we know who to pay how much to and when.

Draft wise, i can really only pick one or two faults out over his tenure.

and bringing in Cooney with pick 37.

short of that, he's done a good job putting a list together.

Great article. Now's the perfect time for the Bombers to turn things around re. trading to round out what is looking like a pretty formidable list. Here's hoping they do. The rhetoric coming out of Tulla suggests as much.

I don't think this does justice to Essendon's finals record. Not only are they still on donuts but they've received some of the biggest pastings that I can remember in many of those finals. To some extent they were lucky to have Richmond to hide them but that is all going to change now.

Bomber fans are correct in giving Adrian's team an out against the brutal Swans.

The 2 goal victory over the slightly less brutal Freo at Etihad in R23 should be the template.

Has any recruiter lasted as long without building a list to win at least 1 final? He has been at ess for a really long time and still has a 0 in the finals win column. I have no idea how he has survived.

It's not just Dodoro's fault though. Essendon didn't put enough resources into recruiting for some time. Since Merv Keane was appointed as Senior Recruiting Coordinator in 2007 we have gotten significantly better at drafting. Post drug saga, and now that we are improving as a team, I would expect us to be able to trade in some good players. If that doesn't happen I will start to have doubts.
