Actually, the club tried hard to keep him but he had already made a commitment to Richmond and he had struggled with persistent groin injuries that required surgery early on. In a way, similar to Freeman from Collingwood.

Freeman's value would be significantly less if he had been on Collingwood's list for five years.

Why do my fellow fans continue to bring this up.

It is obvious to anyone with a brain that we have been hard to deal with.

I don't know whether we are as hard to deal with as we are made out to be. The examples people are coming up with seem to revolve around players that are leaving out club...

When other players want to leave their club why do their clubs seem to make a trade that is reasonable and gets done fairly quickly.

Dodoro has a good eye for talent and wants what is best for the club. His issue is that he wants to "beat everyone"at the trade table.

Carlton are hard to deal with expecting first rounder for yarran. Bunch of arse holes

That doesn't mean we're hard to deal with. Generally, Carlton seem to do pretty reasonable trades without much difficulty.

Both Yarran and Henderson at their best would be in Carlton's top 5-6 players, so of course McKay is going to push for the best trade he can get, regardless what other people think they may be worth. This will only be more so with the player who is contracted and for whom walking into the draft isn't a consequence of any trade falling over.

Has anyone mentioned Essendon's offer of a spud (who they delisted a week later) and a second round pick for Scott West?

Who was said spud?

Ricky Dyson and a third rounder was a popular trade.

An older post from out board (Collingwood supporter too):
It was 2004 and the deadline for trade week was looming. The Bombers had yet to make their big play, but with half an hour to go the Essendon brainstrust decided to strike. Darren Walsh and a 2nd round pick for the Bulldogs All Australian centerman Scott West! Twelve months on, what the hell were the Bombers thinking? and is this the most ridiculous 'serious' proposal a club has put on the table?

Don't forget that we were going to pay him at least $100k less per year. :rainbow:

However that was over 10 years ago, dragging up shit from the Sheedy era is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel, even though he got plenty of trades done then without the fuss people are carrying on about (Hardwick, Caracella, Heffernan, Blumfield, Solomon just from the 2000 premiership team alone)

I think Im correct in saying that Essendon hasn't completed a quick trade in a while, seem to draw things out. Crameri, Ryder, likely Carlisle this year.

The only person I feel sorry for in this is Dodoro. We had a reputation due to Sheeds’ antics and it just got put onto Dodoro afterwards. All the nuffies and media trolls get into him when in reality he does a good job for us every year during trade/free agency period.

Luckily he’s a laidback type and just laughs it off.

Ryder isn't really a particularly elite player, I think picks 17 and 37 was well over what he's worth. It's a shame they blew pick 37 on Cooney.

He hasn't shown it this year, but at the end of 2014 he was in the top handful of rucks in the game.

Well given both of them are better, let me think.....

They are now.

Ryder was one of the top few rucks in the game at the end of 2014.

What have you blokes done to him?

Examples, go:

2009 - offloaded Lovett for massive overs and gave Mark Williams a golden handshake :D and helped Hawthorn get Burgoyne just for lol's :D:D:D
2010 - zero trades
2011 - zero trades
2012 - let Monfries go for pick 51 o_O
2013 - got some GWS spuds and Geelong gave you Chappy
2014 - Dogs gave you Cooney and GWS gave you Giles, you eventually traded Ryder after many hissy fits and foot stomping

That is some heavy hitting trading right there

Essendon are irrelevant in trade week. About the only thing of note they have done in the last 6 years is transition a handful of guys into retirement.

Pretty much sums things up.
Claims 100+ year old premierships as "part of club culture"
But 2004 is too long ago.

Love your work Bombers fans :thumbsu:

Last year, St Kilda were interested in Myers from Essendon. Dodoro wanted pick 1 from the Saints and an established player..

Tell me how that's not difficult or unreasonable??

Didn't want to trade Myers?
