I thought there were two teams in the 1997 Grand Final.[/QUOTE]
Premierships are the key I reckon

Cats and Crows get it done on day 1 with a much better player involved.
It is testament to the professionalism shown by both clubs.

There was a good compromise reached but Adelaide did match the offer put to Danger by Geelong which forced it to a trade. Had they not done that, Geelong would have got him for nothing. They then nutted out a reasonable deal.

How do you think Essendon wold go having to trade out a Dangerfield? Do you think they would get a similar deal done in the first day of the trade period?
If we were dealing with Geelong and got offered something reasonable like 9, 28 and a rookie we really liked then I'm sure we would have got it done.

Unfortunately, today St. Kilda offered us 24 and a ruckman who we didn't want or need.

Who are the 30 plus players we recruited? Waite - NDS?

Cooney, Chappy, Gwilt, Goddard. Essendon is more of a retirement village than the Roos.

Yeah but only Cooney of those four would thus far have failed to live up to expectations.

Sorry but those rankings are ******* useless.

I would just say Ryder has been in the top five ruckmen for a few years whilst never having a dominant year where he is in all Australian contention. Mainly because he rotates forward and doesn't have dreadlocks.

They aren't for those who understand statistical analysis. They are perhaps the most useful analytical tool for the well-educated supporter.

For something as apparently simple as a straight swap for our second rounder, the Melksham trade is taking a while to get through.

A swap of later picks a sticking point?

There was also the Josh Caddy deal from a few years ago that no-one's mentioned.

Essendon were pretty keen into him after his 2nd season at the Gold Coast from memory (or might have been his first), but weren't willing to compensate Gold Coast with a 1st round pick even though he was still under contract.

So Essendon demanded they go into mediation 45 minutes before the trade deadline, looks like they are going to pull the same stunt with Carlisle and St. Kilda...

They wanted a first round pick and Hurley! We offered a first round pick and Hooker. Thankfully that one did not go through!

Just wondering whether there is some adjustment of other picks/ maybe we are waiting on the pick for Toumpas.... ?

I just don't get how a list manager has been in a job for 11 years and yet the team hasn't won a final in that time... A senior coach wouldn't last a third of that time, and the list manager is nearly just as important.

Geez that is just lazy by Dodo not wanting to help get the best pick available in return for Carlisle, why on earth would Essendon want a guy like that in charge of their list?
He must have some good pictures of key staff at the club, because he seems extremely mediocre in his role and isn't well liked by anyone outside of Essendon.

i don't even get why anyone cares
Essendon and Dodoro's tactics are cause for their own concern. Both seem quite happy.
In their defence, we haven't lost out on a deal in recent memory other than probably taking in Mark Williams when JPK available that year.
And still, Carlisle for Lovett (and whatever Carlisle nets us).
Langford & Cooney for Ryder
Merrett for Crameri
Didn't hand over Hurley and a 1st rd pick for Caddy
If memory serves - Gleeson for Monfries
Your club hasn't won a final in 11 years, how can you be satisfied with that and not be critical of those in charge of the list?

Because the list isn't the problem? You can explain why our rebuild failed with five letters.
