To my amazement he started making strange arcane gestures which my guide interpreted for me.

It seemed this secret master of the world would tell me 'the most obvious truth of the universe'.

I leaned in and placed my ear to his lips, expecting to hear the the whispered words of ancient wisdom. With a voice hoarse from disuse all he had to say was...

If we were dealing with Geelong and got offered something reasonable like 9, 28 and a rookie we really liked then I'm sure we would have got it done.

Unfortunately, today St. Kilda offered us 24 and a ruckman who we didn't want or need.

That sounds very reasonable. Who was that ruckman they offered? Hickey? Why would you be interested in Smith but not want Hickey if that is the guy they offered?

There was also the Josh Caddy deal from a few years ago that no-one's mentioned.

Essendon were pretty keen into him after his 2nd season at the Gold Coast from memory (or might have been his first), but weren't willing to compensate Gold Coast with a 1st round pick even though he was still under contract.

So Essendon demanded they go into mediation 45 minutes before the trade deadline, looks like they are going to pull the same stunt with Carlisle and St. Kilda...

I just don't get how a list manager has been in a job for 11 years and yet the team hasn't won a final in that time... A senior coach wouldn't last a third of that time, and the list manager is nearly just as important.

I agree with you but interestingly your club hasn't won a premiership in 18 years which is longer than us. Dodoro has worked at the club for a long time and we are due for a change I think

In fact, last year you won one more game.

Well in news that will shock all ...

Day one is hardly over and the Herald Sun is ALREADY reporting that the Carlisle trade is heading to mediation.

Last 2 years it took nearly two weeks to get to mediation but it only took Dodo one day this year.

“Saints and Bombers list chiefs met at Etihad Stadium on Monday, where Essendon left frustrated St Kilda wouldn’t relinquish its first round pick and the Saints were irritated that the Dons wouldn’t consider alternatives”

Why is it going to mediation? Because Essendon seem to be considering no alternatives at all but 5!


On the alternatives point the Age is saying St.Kilda is attempting to orchestrate a pick swap to get a more reasonable selection in the teens for Carlisle. However,

"complicating this plan would be Essendon's threat to take pick four to the same clubs in a bid to strike a similar pick-slide deal and one-up the Saints"

Our most critical players are hooker Hurley Heppell Daniher and z merrett
Yours are in my uneducated opinion ( I am not an expert on your list) Reiwoldt Bruce armitage Steven and billings
It's not like our best 5 players are really any older than yours
Our older players are now middle tier in our side or in the case of Gwilt cooney and giles depth
Dodoro went for experience as we were precluded from great draft picks I don't agree with it but we are not in a disastrous position mind you losing Carlisle hurts
