We're not the smallest by any measure, we are onfield one of the strongest, and in the last 30 years we've been a lot more successful than the vast majority of clubs.

I made this point on the Essendon board as well. Ryder is 4 years older than Carlisle. Now obviously only 3 years at the time of trading. It still makes a significant difference in terms of value. That's 3 seasons worth of extra games in his prime. There is no doubt Carlisle is worth more than Ryder was. Although for the record Dodoro was saying in one of his media interviews that Port acknowledged Ryder was worth more than what we got but they simply couldn't come up with a reasonable better offer. Dodoro actually expressed a lot of respect for the effort that the Port list manager went to in order to secure the best deal possible saying "they did everything they could reasonably do" or something to that effect.

See that's the thing, if you say "his temperament brings down his value" then you have to rate potential just as highly. And he has potential.
