Adzy's 2017 Phantom Draft

Why do you seem so triggered every single time I see you post? Are you ok?
I'd argue SJ was a little bit triggered but I'm unsure why, considering he doesn't even support Collingwood.
Good effort and good selections

#15 - Balta richmond is about the right selection but with our 2nd pick (if we still have it) more than likely we would be taking Sam Hayes rather than O'Brien
#16 - Sam Hayes - Most likely for needs specially with Patrick Naish coming to Tigers with a later pick
That's a good call - Hampson is #2 behind Nankervis and I imagine he's not on the list in 2019. Hayes if available would be a great chance of going to Richmond.

adammania9 What is you rationale for Sam Hayes sliding out of the first round. Reckon the Tigers would be keen as on the road to draft podcast Matt Clarke (Richmond's List Manager) mentioned him a couple of times. Also suits our biggest requirement for a Forward/Ruck.

He'd be a great fit for the Tigers. In my next update, I think I'll slide him into one of your picks. He currently sits at the Giants' Pick 23

Nice effort.

Personally even though I like the Swans pick, I would take O'Bien if available. Just feel we need line breakers badly. That said if we take Constable I won't be unhappy.

Actually have a feeling we will try and upgrade this selection in the trade period.

If Melbourne somehow keep pick 10 in the Lever trade (very unlikely) they probably select Brayshaw. In which case I'd love us to select Constable

As good as Brayshaw is, surely the Demons can not spend a top pick on an inside midfielder. A small forward with x-factor like Higgins could do a long way.

I too think Sydney will shift some picks around like last year. O'Brien is a great talent but Sydney could downgrade to grab him. Can't see him going first round because he doesn't find the footy a lot. He could fit in well but does he hurt the development of Florent?

They don't really need a small forward, need outside midfielders mostly. However it's a pointless exercise as they'll be spending it on Lever.

There is no reason why both him and Florentbcant play together. I like the idea of getting a left footer in there.

They're pretty short on goal kicking talent.
Garlett, Hannan and Melksham are three fairly handy small/medium forwards. Hogan back to his best next year, Pederson can easily be a 20 goal forward/ruck. If Weideman fills out a bit he'll be handy too.

Any change in the top 5 since the combine?
Haven't really looked into it enough. A glaring omission from my draft is Aiden Bonar who some think is a top ten fancy. I didn't know much of him until recently so in my next update, he'll certainly feature.

Hey adam, love your work and agree with most of your picks, just wondering where you have Aidan Bonar and Hamish Brayshaw. I'd love bonar at the pies and think Brayshaw is worth a chance on a list

Bonar is a massive omission from my last draft because only recently have I started watching him play, and he certainly has it, tearing apart the combine. He's an athletic machine, and should go first round by the looks of things, maybe even top 10. I'll update my draft following trade week and compensation additions.

Hamish Brayshaw looks like he's going pretty late like Cassidy Parish, both from 4th round to rookie draft even though I rate both highly. I wouldn't be surprised to see the club who selects Andrew to also select Hamish later on, particularly an interstate club like Fremantle who are looking at Andrew. He's a really good talent, who has proved he can not only boss the midfield with his clearances and contested work, but against Northern Knights he also went forward and kicked five. Being an overage player hurts his draft value, but I'd love Collingwood to use our Pick 59 or a rookie selection on him.

Equalled the vertical leap record and also ran the 20m sprint in 2.9 seconds. Very good effort.

Correct - standing vertical leap is great.........for a basketball tip off.

Finished bottom 12% in 2k time trial and bottom 17% in Yo-Yo.

Has work to do there don't you think?

Definitely, but those aren't the tests you're focusing on for a key forward. Fitness can always be improved with relative ease, vertical leap isnt as easy to improve

Problem is Aiden is only 188.6cm and unless he has a Gunston like growth spurt will never play AFL as a key forward.

Everyone here is touting him as a forward/midfield beast.

As I've mentioned before, by all means draft the kid, but his proper range is late 2nd/early third (30-50), and give him a couple of years of VFL/state league footy to improve his base and trust his body.
