Fair enough.. Sure we might be improved...

A couple of young guns will get more experience. A bit of better luck might help us. New coaching will hopefully help. Sure we can bounce back and possibly finish top 6. But is it sustainable?

Top 5 sides added the following to their list so far:

Geelong: Mitch Clarke
Hawks: Frawley
Port: Ryder

Adelaide: Cheney, Lowden

See the difference? They were already streets ahead of us in 2014. All 3 of them added more than we have to further the gap.
mitch clarke will he play long? frawley lmao he aint worth pick 36 let alone 3

Yeah, I see the difference, Clarke coming off a serious bout of depression, absolutely no risk there, and Ryder certain to spend time on the sidelines courtesy of ASADA, for who knows how long...yep, I see the difference. Hawks look to have done well.

Just like Polec is lazy, Gunston is a mummy's boy, Franklin is a party boy?
Clark is a HUGE risk, Geelong traded poorly IMO
Frawley is worth nowhere near the money he is being paid. Would love him for 100k less
Ryder is a great pick up if he continues this years form after his suspension

Mitch Clark is quite questionable with that whole depression episode that happened, hopefully it works out for Geelong but has potential to blow up on them.

Frawley is worth mid to late first rounder, You're a good KPD if you get an AA jumper in a defense that is akin to Melbourne which is what he achieved, Late to mid first.

You always do call it like you see it, but with an over inflated sense of self worth (look to your username).

Sure we are moving forward. But we aren't moving forward fast enough. We keep taking half a step whilst other teams are taking giant leaps ahead.
The problem is, we aren't coming from a position of strength.

We didn't have the currency, or appeal to be big players this year.

I'm confident of a much better season next year where we will be playing finals. When Danger, Tex, and Sloane re-sign, and people can see our club is stable, and on the way up, some will want to come to us.

This will snowball, as players want to be at a successful club. After next season, the pace of our improvement will increase.

Success breeds success

I can't believe so many on here are that upset at the 10 for 14 swap! WTF!
do you think we can get something for nothing?
we slid 4 spots on our first round pick, 4 spots on our second round pick.
We Gained a back up ruck and an experience back and an extra 3rd round.
sure they are not super stars but what do you want for nothing.
I feel like Noble will be like the Ikea add "Start the car! Start the car!"
Exactly, I think that it's pretty clever.

Ohhhh burn.

So Hawthorn rated him so highly he didn't play a single final from 2011-2014 nor play for more than 9 games a year. He was rated so highly he went pick 57 in the National Draft.

I mean can someone please tell me whats so good about him? I mean I get that he is competitive and tough. He isn't an accumulator (two games in his career over 20 touches), What really stands out for him? He is a decent option on medium sized forwards...

Greetings people.

I don't post very often, but I am a compulsive reader. I refresh threads with the best of you.
As a member I have been bitterly disappointed with the club during the past couple of seasons for reasons that are obvious to all. But it's time for us all to get on board. Trigg is gone. Sando is gone. Bicks is gone. Tippett, Gunstan et al are gone - get over it. We have started a new era with Fagan, Walsh & Roo. Let's give them a chance to get their sh*t together and get this once great club back where it belongs - at the top of the tree.
Sure, Cheney & Lowden aren't All Australians but they fill our needs. If we can snaffle an Ahern or a Goddard type with pick 14 then we've come out in front.
And another thing, I am sick to f*kn death of Crows supporters sooking about Port did this, Port did that. F*ck them! We're Crows supporters first and Port haters second, not the other way round.

I reckon Sauce will be happy with the trades....

Are you kidding. Clarke was almost an A lister before illness struck him. An excellent player
Injury and illness. Have no doubt he can overcome his personal issues but his injuries not so much. Plus they gave up a nice pick for Rhys Stanley.......

Absolutely they are all risks. But these teams also finished in the top 5. If these risks pay off they become much much better as football teams.

Whose ceiling is lowest - Cheney, Clarke, Ryder, Frawley? Which side needs the biggest improvement - Adelaide, Geelong, Port, Hawks?

See the mismatch here?

Well unlike our mid sized defenders in Shaw, Reilly and Hendo he can actually defend. Helps a bit

Why do you think it was a last second deal ? Hawthorn blinked I can assure you.. Ballsy stuff by Noble to call the Hawks bluff
Oh yeah we really bent Hawthorn over the table. That loser club was no match for the intellectual genius of King David the Noble.

I mean come on. You can argue the merits of trading for 2 marginal propositions but making out like we're some clever wheeler dealer beating the back to back premiers at hardball is total la la land.

Agreed but what were we able to trade in ?? Our clubs image isnt great at this point and thats what Noble and Ogilvie have to fight against.

The difference is that Cheney at his best doesnt close the gap much between us and top 4 teams. Players of the quality of Clarke, Ryder, Frawley have the ability to take Gee, Port, Hawks lightyears away from us.

Look what Geelong lost and who their best players are. We arent that far away from them really
