Agreed but what were we able to trade in ?? Our clubs image isnt great at this point and thats what Noble and Ogilvie have to fight against.
So are you agreeing this trade period was underwhelming?

Regardless of what was available to us it was still a shitty result for the club.

The fact that we are undesirable doesn't turn our shitty week into something positive.

LOLS at the trade wrap ratings.

The clubs that did nothing at all get a C, while we got a D.

We didn't do swimmingly, but I think we improved a little.

C+. From me.

Combined with the other positives in the off season in the footy department, I'm satisfied

Oh yeah we really bent Hawthorn over the table. That loser club was no match for the intellectual genius of King David the Noble.

I mean come on. You can argue the merits of trading for 2 marginal propositions but making out like we're some clever wheeler dealer beating the back to back premiers at hardball is total la la land.
Ha ha ha...

We absolutely destroyed two of the greatest dynasties at the trade table. SUCKERS.

Who gave us a D? Do they not know we added Cheney? What about the masterstroke of swapping #10 for #14 because we rate players 7-20 all the same?

Slightly underwhelming yes but given what we had to fight will a reasonable outcome.

Im also not going to judge the decisions that were made until next season. Could we have done more, of course but who knows we didnt try.

AFL Trade Wrap gave us a "C", although I get the impression we were marked down because we didn't trade Dangerfield before FA.

#10 isn't a cast iron certainty to be a good player. It's just a decent probability...and I'd guess not much different to #14 in terms of the success or failure of players picked. Be interested to see an historical comparison. Odds obviously get a lot longer when you get out to #35...but (again, guessing) I'd say the probabilities are measurably better than at #47. Clearly, the recruiting department have identified a need that they think is going to be available at #14 so it seems smart to upgrade our second pick significantly.

Cheney is pretty underwhelming but I think Lowden is a good pick up.

It's a pass from me.

you know what gets me we have hawks supporters coming on our board saying cheney and lowden are great gets for this club of ours and spud supporters of our club bagging it get a grip on reality i think they would know a bit more of how these players are than you
And when we got Tambling, Richmond supporters came to this board genuinely wishing him well and saying how good he will become with a fresh start.

It's easy to be magnanimous when a fringe player from your club leaves and you get decently compensated.

Seems like a reasonable calculation as above to delist one more.
Pretty happy with the Cheney/Lowden pick up and the last minute swap of 10-14 to get another early round 3. We might have paid a bit too much for those guys giving 31 but still ok (Lowden was pick 63 in 2008)

Always thought Cheney was decent at Melbourne and will give a little more toughness. Lowden being youngish and playing under Jacobs is what we all expected with the Graham and McKernan delistings.

With 14 I don't think Durdin will slip that far. Really hope he does somehow and we get him!
