Because we didn't want to spend more.
I don't think we had much choice. From a player's perspective they look at our list and see that not only is sauce a lock as the no.1 ruck but Jenkins has a strong hold on the second forward/ruck. It's highly unlikely that they would get a crack without an injury to one of those two players. Why would they come to us?

I think people need to stop saying "[insert favorite prospect] wont be avaliable at 14 but might be at 10 what a spud move"

Honestly even if the player who goes at 10 is a triple brownlow premiership player the Crows appear to have simply played the averages.

Chances are, Geelong at 10 will pick up who they would have at 14 and the Crows at 14 will pick up who they wanted to at 10.

That doesn't make sense :)

If that was true Geelong wouldn't have had to swap picks and give us their second rounder.

Geelong needed to move up, we didn't mind moving down.

I agree with your sentiments. But we could have sold ourselves to other rucks who then said yes..... but we would have had to spend more for no more benefit to us. We didn't chase what was too costly when we can get what we need relatively cheaply.

My point being Geelong wont be picking up who the Crows are interested in.

And when we got Tambling, Richmond supporters came to this board genuinely wishing him well and saying how good he will become with a fresh start.

It's easy to be magnanimous when a fringe player from your club leaves and you get decently compensated.
Why have you got such a stupid avatar? It's neither funny or clever

Walsh said the Crows would look to draft a tall player with at least one of their first two picks (No.14 and No.35) at the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.
So they will target a position.

The club's decision to downgrade its first pick raised some eyebrows, but Walsh insisted it was a carefully planned manoeuvre.

"Some people might ask why we pushed back from No.10 to No.14 - that was a calculated decision," he said.

"I'll back in my recruiting team, they tell me the player that they wanted at that pick will still be there at No. 14."
Plus they know who they want and think they'll get him.

Pick 14 makes or mehs the trading for me.

Lowden was important. Cheney makes me lol but as non kpd adds what walsh would want.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Someone mentioned Mitch Robinson in here and aside from me wanting to badly hear Bruce or Dennis to commentate

"Danger, Mitch Robinson, Danger" :p

We should have a no dk head policy at the Club. Whats even worse is that he doesnt bring a lot to the team and the fallout is way worse then the benefit.

I also dont think also he fits Walshy mold for the Club, ie a team first attitude.

Perhaps Cheney was brought in at low cost to replace somebody like Brown who can enter your midfield?
Great point, Brown is massively underrated by Crows supporters. Started his career like Goodwin and Edwards as a lock down back pocket but definitely can become a midfielder.

I'm not convinced.

Port got Ryder for 17 and 37 to top off a very successful season for the Tealers.

We have...........who?..............can't remember their names but I believe they were stars at Boxhill.

And evidently we finished 6th in the premiership season! Funny I don't remember that but we must've come home with a rush. I knew 2014 was just a bad dream.

What I find funny about this is that last year we lost our first 2 rounds of draft picks because of the Tippett thing but brought in Eddie Betts through free agency and yet everyone seems to thinks that our club is going to take 5 years to recover from these sanctions. Port have just voluntarily done exactly the same thing to themselves by giving up their first 2 round picks for Ryder and yet everyone says they have set their club up for the next 5 years.

Don't forget that we were in the prelim the year before the Tippett sanctions just like them so where exactly is the difference?
