West Coast posters seem to think there is no chance Lycett will leave West Coast next year.
I have heard otherwise from people close to him.

I would be extremely suprised if he remained at West Coast next season. The only thing stopping him is if WC offer him a massive deal.

One from a little left of centre.

Lachie Dalgliesh from Essendon. Is a rookie won't cost much (I think he is out of contract as well) and the kid has speed to burn and a very nice left boot. Would possibly be in competition with Smith and Henderson, but it could also easily free Smith to play on the wing.

He and Crouches may have played some footy together as well at the Rebels.

Some good spotting there...I like the sound of this kid...speed is king, and going by his write up in the local Ararat rag pre the draft he has that in spades, well worth a look by our recruiters.

His stats in the 3 AFL games he played for the Bombers in 2013 after being upgraded from the rookie list weren't too shabby either!!

Another Josh Jenkins maybe??

BLINK and you might miss Ararat's Lauchlan Dalgleish on the football field...
BLINK and you might miss Ararat's Lauchlan Dalgleish on the football field.
Dalgleish is a speedster who makes his presence felt on a wing.
A burst player, Dalgleish bolstered his draft chances with stunning results at AFL Draft Combine in October.
The North Ballarat Rebel shone, finishing in the top five of the agility run, 20-metre sprint, 30-metre repeat sprint and clean hands tests.
He recorded a personal best in the 20-metre sprint with a time of 2.86 seconds.
Dalgleish, who kicked five goals in a match-winning performance in a rare game for the Rats this year, was surprised to receive an invite to the draft combine, having missed out on Rebels' selection as a bottom-age player in 2010.
"I didn't expect it. This time last year I trained with the Rebels and then was playing senior footy at local level," Dalgleish said.
"I didn't expect to get a game this season and at the end of the year I went to the draft combine. It was a dream come true."
The Ararat College student's running capacity was on show at Stawell Gift earlier this year. He finished third in heat 14 off a handicap of 8.25 metres.
"I've always been pretty quick through primary school and in my younger years at high school," Dalgleish said.
"After last year when I ran in the Footballers' Gift, Marcus Cooper spoke to me and we took it from there.
"It's definitely helped me. I am heaps stronger through my legs and core."
With his running a natural gift, Dalgleish switched his focus to tackling.
His goal throughout the TAC Cup season was to build on his attack on the ball carrier.
"That wasn't a strong point in my game," he said.
"I worked on it at training and got better as the year went on.
"You need to talk to the coaches more and get feedback. There's a lot more work the higher you work up."
Dalgleish, who considers himself a player in the mould of Fremantle's Stephen Hill, started playing football in Ararat's under-13 competition and made his senior debut for the Rats in Wimmera Football League in 2009.
His dad Andrew Dalgleish played football for Ararat but was more known for his cricketing prowess, while his great-grandfather Jack Clarke played a couple of games for North Melbourne.
Dalgleish said making the AFL would be overwhelming.
"It'd be awesome. You go through junior football looking up to your AFL heroes thinking it would be good to play it and now it's a chance to happen it's a bit scary," he said.
"It would be exciting to get drafted."

Considering Essendon really only have Ryder I doubt they will release any Ruckmen.

My reference to Josh Jenkins was not in the position Laughlan plays but the fact he can't get a game at Essendon.......he's a speedy winger/half back 185cm/77kg with a big emphasis on the word SPEED!! Something we could do with!!

Played very consistent VFL last year before being rewarded with a few games at the back end. Is coming off an Achilles (I think) injury this season but working back into to it. Whilst not in the best was influential on the weekend.

He is one from my backyard I played both footy and cricket with and against him. Fairly laid back sort of guy so I don't think the move would be a massive shock to the system (at least hopefully not :p )

Claremont. New England Patriots.
I thought about this player who I believed we should have rookied.
Any word from WA on how he has gone this year in WAAFL.
craig crowing : On Darcy..... he is progressing along nicely at Claremont with out staring. H has player 10 league games and 4 reserves and his numbers are quite good averaging ( at League ) about 20 hit outs per game . Averaging 10 possessions per game and three marks. His ruck form has fluctuated a bit with his worst effort 12 ruck knocks and his best being 49 yes 49.

He has to compete for senior duties with Mark Seaby who is Claremont's premier ruckman by some way and Mitch Andrews who is by WAFL standard a very handy ruckman who can also go forward and kick goals.

Darcy is learning his craft and if he can get a bit more involved around the ground then his overall game will come on leaps and bounds.
I suspect that he wont get drafted this year however if he progresses again next year in the WAFL at the same rate as this year then at the ends of the 2015 season I think he is a good chance.

He has grown a little and now is 204 cm and 104 kg.

However you just never know a Club may speculate and take him at the end of this season reckoning his projected development may be worth punting on.

I hope you don't mind me intruding on your board and I am only posting as you may not have many Crows followers who have seen much of Darcy this year.

Any South fans on here care to comment on how Tom Fields has gone this season?

I noticed him on the weekend with his penetrating left foot kick. 192cm, 92kg, 21 y.o. KPD from Queensland.

For what it's worth, Lycett covers the ground very, very well for such a big lad and ive seen him take some real good contested grabs up forward.

Would most likely be 2nd in place to JJ, but would not look out of place up forward at all if we were to suffer an injury to a KPF. Would most certainly target as he has real talent and could come cheap. PAP boy though so makes things interesting.

Hearing more whispers about Phil Davis to Adelaide. Girlfriend lives here still and Phil's very tight with Danger.

Would probably have to cough up our first pick this year (#8 to #10) but I'd do that trade in a heartbeat, particularly if it would go a long way to keeping Danger at the Crows.
Id take Davis back in a heartbeat, but not for our 1st rounder. For me, defending comes first as a KPD and both he and Talia would form a lethal combo. Slow yes, and would probably replace Otten, but if we could get him back on the cheap Id take him. Dont forget had that horrific kidney injury so i playing as damaged goods. As a club Id certainly be sniffing around.

Darcy Cameron would definitely be a project player. But remember rucks take time. Cox and Sandilands both started their careers on the rookie list. We have a spot on our rookie list previously held by a Cameron from WA. Might save the club some paper work.

Soft spot for Brisbane
It would be something like our first for Davis and their second, right?

We're taking on a big contract and a reasonable amount of risk - even then, he'd need to overtly ask to be traded back and he seems to polite.

Could have gone F/S to Essendon.

I think he is one of those blokes who would excel in an AFL environment. You can tell he is a step above SANFL but doesn't exactly dominate.

I think that if Gorringe or Lycett were performing they would walk into Pods spot. It's not a huge need but if it allows Jenkins to become a key forward and Jacobs get the support he has been asking for then give it a go. In saying that I'd rather see us take Ports first rounder and give West Coast Douglas and Lyons.

I agree they would.
But that doesnt mean our current structure with 3 monsters plus lynch is the best either.

Darcy Cameron if we are looking for a developing ruck, assuming Smack and Graham are shown the door.

Best post i have read in a long long long time.
Why we took Alex Spina and Craig Kellys sprog and not him is way beyond me.
We couldve had him as a 4th round selection in the Rookie draft last year. Absolutely zero idea Adelaide Crows.

I'm all for critiquing the club where warranted but this may be too harsh, too early.

D Cameron may never make it, and all our rookies have shown very positive signs throughout the year. I'd be surprised if any of them are cut at the end of the year.

Kelly and Spina have been good as well, yes, but neither hardly play a position of need do they?

By the time you get to the rookie draft you're looking at mostly "project" players. All of the players who fall this far have deficiencies or reasons why they weren't taken in the National Draft. Some of them will go on to achieve success, the overwhelming majority will never see the light of day. Most clubs go with a "best available" strategy in this draft, rather than "needs based" because they want to maximise the already low probability that their selected player will "make it". Adelaide are very fortunate that Cameron was both best available and filled an identified need.

Rightly or wrongly, Adelaide didn't rate D Cameron as the best player available at our selection in the draft. It's worth noting that none of the other clubs did either, so Adelaide are hardly unique in overlooking him.

It's also worth noting that we do have several ruck options behind Jacobs - JJ, Smack, Graham & Osborn. Adding another to the rookie list was probably not appropriate last year. With 3 of those backup options probably being delisted this year, now would be a more appropriate time to be drafting a replacement.

Spina could play the role of outside mid/forward and Kelly would provide the flanker size defender who can actually defend well, or potentially turn into a defensive mid (has the size, grunt and engine).

Both areas we need depth in, but of course i agree a back-up ruck is definitely another area of importance, possibly even more so.
