Realistically, you have no idea what will happen this offseason. You are choosing to assume the worst because blah blah mediocrity blah blah....

At some point the crows will challenge again. Things will be shaken up and changes will be made that have positive influences on our club. Can you tell me for a fact that this will not happen this offseason? No? Didnt think so...your in the same boat as the rest of us. We are all frustrated, but the difference is we are open for change and hopeful. Whereas i think that even when things do change for the better you will be so deep in your own big hole of negativity that you will fail to see it and probably still complain.

Perk up mate, this is what supporting your team is all about. Enjoy it

See, you can go and get ****ed as that's total bullshit.

I'm not even going to waste anymore time as that's just horse shit.

Give me something positive and i'm positive. Go back to 2012 and my positive was very positive. my posting reflect the performance of the players.

Honestly, this time of year I don't believe any of the crap that gets reported in the papers on player movement. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Ryder and Carlisle stay at Essendon and Cameron at GWS.

As for that "big fish", I don't see it happening, not because I don't think they could attract a quality player to Adelaide, but because I don't think they'd have enough juice to satisfy the other team.

The issue with trading in average players such as Gwilt and Robinson is it achieves nothing except increase the depth and quality of the 18-30th players on our list. Yes it might stop you finishing 12th, but it ain't going to help you get much higher up the ladder. It's the perfect way to maintain mediocrity and to not risk falling back which ultimately you need to do to add real quality.

That's all well and good to say. But if we can't get a trade or FA of top talent, do you suggest we not improve the list at all?

Just do nothing if it isn't a big move.... ? That's worse.

Banging on about youngsters being the future is all well and good. But Hartigan and Siggins are yet to prove anything. We all hold out hope, but if we find out 7 games into next year that it's not panning out, it will be a very long season if we don't have AFL level depth. Its going to take 2 offseasons to do a proper clean out. Draftees can only fill so many holes.

Just leaving it and getting smashed in defense all year is only going to cause more angst. Literally no fan will say "oh this is so cool coz we get better draft picks". They will be "shit we did sweet FA about improving defense in the offseason".

Diving down the ladder next year is the best way to lose Dangerfield and not be an attractive destination for years to come. I'd rather not get in a cycle of perpetual rebuilding.

I want to win a flag

Where have I ever said it's simple?

We don't actually need to recruit someone for the sake of it. Gwilt and Robinson, J Pod last year was just that - moving seats on the titanic. It didn't get us better and the fact we didn't get any worse, has actually set us back another step.

Port have something like 11 top 10 picks - we have 1, we (hopefully) will add a second one this year.

you get better in the current day AFL by attracting quality players or quality draft picks. Right now - we are not able to do either.

You say I'm negative, I say I'm just being realistic and have a good grasp on where this club stands for and where it is heading. I don't believe you actually do are are just satisfied with what we are currently doing.

I'm not and will continue to say my bit.

I don't disagree with you in regards to picking up players simply for the fact that they're available. I get the reasoning behind the Pods, but agree it was not going to get us any better.

Out of interest, which way do you think we should go, in terms of tying to bring in top end talent or through bottoming out and going the draft, because it seems as though you think it needs to be one or the other?

For mine, there is not certainty that the draft brings with it the gold that every supporter so hopes with early picks. I understand why Collingwood went so hard at trading out older players for first round picks a few years back, but for mine has set them back and I don't see them being that great anytime soon either, I think everyone gets lost in the hope of what young players who were drafted high can bring.

In terms of having the genuine chance you want, I think at the core we have some very good players, and we should try and get some more talent around them, but it's not so simple, particularly when majority of top end talent that are FA will choose a top performing club. I genuinely see our issue in the past 5-6 years has been keeping our talent together, no denying with Gunston, Tippett and Davis still on the list we would be right up there. We drafted well with 'average' picks, but through a range of different reasons lost some of that top end talent that would have us really competing.
