Worst Picks of the Draft
  • By far the worst pick of the draft was Brad Crouch, taken by Mr MysteryGuest with pick 50. Only scored 5.81 which was bottom 50 for players taken

  • Other top 100 draft pick busts: Tom Scully (Mr MysteryGuest, #86), Josh Bruce (Drugs Are Bad Mackay?, #53) and Billy Longer (adelaidecrows, #49) who all scored less than 10.0

  • Six drafted players scored 0 as they haven't debuted yet. Unfortunately, dogs105 drafted three of them: Paul Hunter (#464), Tom North (#500) and Harrison Wigg (#509)

  • No one drafted Josh Thomas, who was the 74th best player for scoring. Jayden Short was just outside the top 100 and also went undrafted. Jed Anderson, Aaron Naughton and Nick Holman the other misses from the top 200.

  • There were quite a number of top 10 busts due to injury. Josh Kelly (dogs105, #5), Rory Sloane (Hank93, #6), Joe Daniher (Daniel1812, #7), Josh Kennedy WCE (Kristof, #8), and Tom Lynch GCS (Danoz, #9) all very disappointing

  • Other bad picks include Jon Patton (Drugs Are Bad Mackay?, #20), Toby Greene (dogs105, #41) and Matthew Kreuzer (roo2macca, #47)

And the winner is...

Scorpus

Uhhh.... yeah. Awkward. Two years in a row. :$

Top 5:
  1. Scorpus
  2. Danger Zone
  3. Danger in Texas
  4. 1990crow
  5. AdelaideFan14

Now part of the reason I won is because the scoring is heavily weighted to games played. My squad played 500 games. Only four teams (the top 4, in exact order) had a squad that played the full 484 games possible.

I was then able to edge out Danger Zone with two AA squad members, and 8 top 5 B&F finishes, compared to Danger Zone's two AA team members, one AA squad member, and 5 top 5 B&F finishes

FAITH is the one player who is an outlier for games played. It's likely, with a scoring system that favors performance more, that FAITH would have won the game. FAITH had four AA team members and 7 top 5 B&F finishers.

That's why I suggested a scoring system for 2018/19 that is more heavily weighted to player performance. My squad was good but it had a lot of mid-tier players rather than superstars.

adelaidecrows placed themselves at a significant disadvantage by only drafting 20 players

A win, is a win.
Good work.

Best Picks of the Draft
  • The highest scoring player in the game was Brodie Grundy with 50.82 points, drafted by Drugs Are Bad Mackay? with pick 17.

  • James Harmes taken at pick 413 by Drugs Are Bad Mackay? was an absolute steal. The 31st highest scoring player in the competition having played 25 games and finished 3rd in the B&F at Melbourne

  • Lachie Whitfield (Kristof, #137), Shannon Hurn (FAITH, #147) and Shane Edwards (Mr MysteryGuest, #167) were top 15 scoring players taken outside the first 100 picks

  • Other extremely good picks: Mark Blicavs (Maggsy, #199) was the 21st highest scoring player. Jack Redden (AdelaideFan14, #273) a steal with a top 30 finish. Tom Phillips (Maggsy, #343) and Blake Hardwick (roo2macca, #371) also very good, both finished top 50 for scoring.

  • Tim Kelly with pick 503 to Danger in Texas was the best draft pick beyond 450. He was the 63rd best player.

I'm not reading any further, just going to consider myself the winner :)
