That's not unusual, Fyfe, Danger (pick 10) even Cripps could have an argument as best player in his year.

So the first time we get a pick this high and we cant get a read on the kids because they havent played this year.
The best player in this draft might not even go in the top 10.

Yes, pick 1 rarely ends up being the best player in the draft.

The value of top end picks is more that they will reliably become quality AFL players, not that they'll necessarily be the best.

This year we've got Pick 1 but are drafting blind to a degree.

Previously when we've bombed we coincided it with Gold Coast and GWS entering the competition so heavily compromised drafts.

Oh and the year after had to hand a couple of early picks back to the AFL

No Vic form, best player tied to an NGA rort, first two picks of the second round and the AFL make it a one night affair killing the value we could have got for those two picks, our second pick gets pushed out by compo and matching picks.

My preference would be Mcdonald or Hollands, but I wont be too upset if we take Thilthorpe. I think all 3 are going to tur out to be great players.
Will be interested to see what we do with pick 9. I would prefer to split it with the 2 x GWS picks. We should get 2 really good kids with 2 picks in the teens.
