It's proof that they didn't rate any of the remaining players as being worthy of a position on an AFL list.

Mackay is clearly worthy of a position on an AFL list, given that he finished top-10 in our 2020 Club Champion, and was top-5 on a votes per game basis.

The hatred of Mackay, and overrating of youngsters who the professional talent scouts clearly don't rate, is beyond ridiculous.

We were the worst team in the league.

There is nothing clear that this old, not very good, player would be considered worthy of an AFL list spot anywhere else in the league.

The only thing that's clear is that you've little ability to discern what is evidence that supports a claim and what is not.

I love Rowe as a player, yappy little in your face, x factor personified. He'll be fine at AFL level but I'm not quite sure he'd worth 38.....rookie for mine.

Sounds like there were two clubs who were going to take him in the main draft, and Bulldogs would have if they'd had picks. He deserves a chance.

I think I'd have preferred Jack Carroll, but I'm also happy with what they did.

I'm not expecting many of them to go on to have successful AFL careers. Historically, less than 1% of all rookie selections go on to play 100 AFL games.

Our Best & Fairest was a rookie... so was Laird, Cameron, Hartigan, Butts plus bunch of older players and some guns at other clubs. Just have a look at Richmond’s premiership team. We’ve removed that chance because of Mackay, how can you be happy with that?

I’m sorry that’s actually pretty funny. Rowe fills a huge need? We have Stengle, Murphy, McHenry and are adding Newchurch tomorrow, but small forward is a huge need. Well the recruiting of those 4 can’t have been seen as very successful if that position is a huge need.

Just like Wilson. Stengles papers are stamped. Hope he get another go but 2 strikes in a year think he is cooked chance wise. McHenry im not liking his chances after our draft haul.

I find it so strange that people judge the success of the actual draft based on how they compare to some phantoms they read in the lead up.

If there's a difference, it's because the phantoms were wrong, not vice versa

Not correct: the lack of genuine match impact from our senior players is precisely why.

Having said that, it has precisely no relevance.

Unless you have an argument about why our best and fairest results are evidence of what other clubs would have done in list management, we don't need to keep going through every new thought bubble you have.

Even worse is that GC traded pick 27 for Melbourne’s 2021 3rd a few days ago with Geelong and yet we traded our 2021 3rd early in the draft for a 4 pick upgrade from 38 to 34. We could have traded that same pick to GC a few days ago and got 27 as our 3rd would obviously be preferable to Melbournes. We Coulnt have possibly know that who we wanted was going to be there after 8 picks in the draft tonight and not known it a few days ago so that means that we just totally stuffed that up.

also, if we had traded for GC’s 27, we could have secured Collingwoods 2021 1st, as we would have had better than GWS’s 24 and 30 (23 and 27) to offer, and still got the same players that we ended up taking. I don’t know who is supposed to be working out these things for us, but they are completely useless.

It's the second highly suspect trade Geelong has done with GCS in two years.

I don't know if that pick was being offered to us.

Circumstance matters a bit with the trade of our 3rd round pick in 2021 to move up two picks.

We obviously didn't think Cook would be there (and needed to find a team who'd happily move down), and wouldn't have got past St.Kilda.

In that circumstance, giving up a third to slightly move up is fine.

The 34 for 38 + a 4th was weird, though it could have just been Port wanted to move down as they didn't think Jones was getting bid on early and we saw an chance to move up a few spots cheaply.

We needed 5 players in this draft, so we weren't in the running for Collingwoods 1st pick.

I actually think this bodes well for McHenry and Jones, and they think that they are the future of our club for outside midfielders. At least until we find out they're not

I'm not sure how often you are on this board, but credibility and posting frequency have an inverse relationship here at the best of times.

Go back a few weeks and everyone was adamant we would get Pick 2 via a dodgy trade with St. Kilda for 2 list-cloggers, and would then absolutely 1000% trade a pick to GWS for Hately to protect our draft-rep. All the inside mail and industry knowledge had it all happening, and arguing anything to the contrary provoked a tidal-wave of melts from supposedly mature adults that even 5AA would have pulled the pin on.

The act of posting on an internet sports fan forum immediately decreases your credibility by 3000%. Everything after that is shades of grey.

We need a high ceiling mid and our small forwards are all suspect. We have enough KPPs and depth there
