I think you can only have 2 players on the veterans list. Can anyone confirm this?

The way the Veterans & Rookie list works is as follows.

Adelaide are permitted to have up to 6 players outside the "main" list. A maximum of two of these can be Veterans - so any of the following is OK:
  • 6 Rookies, 0 Veterans
  • 5 Rookies, 1 Veteran
  • 4 Rookies, 2 Veterans

Sydney & Brisbane are both permitted an additional 3 rookies, all of which are required to be drafted from their local competitions. Like the rest of the competition, they are only permitted a maximum of two Veterans outside the main list.

The eligibility criterion for Veterans is as follows:
  • 30 years of age (not sure what the cutoff date is)
  • 10 years of service to the club.

In addition to the Veterans outside the main list, it is also possible to designate players inside the main list as Veterans. This is purely for salary cap calculations. However, the law of diminishing returns applies when you have more than 2 veterans.
  • 2 Vets: 50% of their salary does not count against the salary cap
  • 3 Vets: 33%
  • 4 Vets: 25%
and so on.

Assuming the age cutoff date is the 1st of January, Adelaide will have the following players eligible for the Veterans list in 2007:
  • Simon Goodwin
  • Tyson Edwards
  • Andrew McLeod
  • Mark Ricciuto
  • Ben Hart

Clarke & Bassett are both ineligible due to the 10 year service criterion (though Bassett would be eligible in 2008).

1 year contract until end of 2006:

Is Ben Hart expected to continue next year?

Thanks mate.

Here you go J26. I didn't check the earlier pages but I think we had most of our squads contracts accounted for in this thread.

Why have you got Pfeiffer down as having a 1 year contract? Drafted onto main list in 2005 through national draft- automatic 2 year contract. till end of 2007.

VB. :thumbsu:

Now, what about Douglas? And Knights is out of contract at the end of 2008. There will be numerous Victorian clubs trying to get him back home, let's hope that doesn't occur.

I'd expect Douglas to sign a deal about mid-year. Knights to get an extension late this year.

Radar Reilly re-signed for another two seasons yesterday. Good to have him on board.. he's getting better all the time :thumbsu:

Reilly said on TV that he loves it here, and that going home wasn't an option for him at all. He appreciates that he plays for a well structured club with good culture.

He finished off by saying that he hoped to captain the Crows one day.
