He rucked quite a bit last year - not so far this year

He is killing it. He had 7 shots on goal for an inaccurate 2.5 and was running into an open goal when the final siren beat him to it.
In his first few games for us (incl trial games) he has kicked 4,4,1,4,1.3,2.5.

Yes he's been the support ruck for Hunter in the SANFL while ROB been playing AFL.
Last year he rucked as well, He not a great ruck long way to go. needs a bigger Body and more stamia, play a supporting ruck role in the AFL.

He doesn't have much of a chance even if he is playing there, seeing it's really just waiting for Lynch form to drop, Tex we'll hold regardless as really he's who our side is built around. It's apart of that joy of absolutely ******* up our list management by resigning Lynch knowing full well that Fogarty needed AFL game time.

For Fog it's pretty much convert him to a defender or trade him right now.

A good lesson in why showing loyalty to a B+ veteran when you have an A grade talent is in the wings is always the wrong decision. No matter what that B+ player offers.

We are now stuck trying to make our best prospect (and really the player the next gen will be built around) into a ******* defender because of that decision, because we've taken away the last possible path he could make it as a forward until 2021 (because otherwise, we're committing 600k of salary cap, and a LG spot to the reserves which is as bad of a situation as blocking out an A+ prospect). All because we prioritsed a veteran third tall, which even the best ones are expendable, because a third tall by nature is a fringe position.

Prioritising a kid to get him up to speed is not bad list management, it's a necessity to develop into a premiership capable squad. Every time you opt for a veteran in a fringe position over an highly rated prospect, you've ****ed up. No ifs, no buts as this is not something that has any grey area whatsoever.

Also in case you're unaware, us bombing makes that decision even worse then what I initially criticised it for.

He was leading AT the ball carrier this week and was too quick for his defender. Plus the passing into the forward line was much, much better (partly from better forward set up and leads)

Lynch is a crucial part of our current line up. Fog can't and shouldn't be asked to do what Lynch does.

And? You can always change structure to make it work, which immediately ruins any argument of "you can't ask Fog to do what Lynch does". We are not stuck with a one size fits all structure where a peripheral player (which Lynch is by being a third tall) is so important that we can't move him. Get Knight to run up and down the wings more or Gallucci to provide a leading outlet kick (using pace instead of height as the separator) etc, Tex could roam more which makes use of that leg. It's not even asking much in the creativity sakes. It's no different to losing a player to an injury, you adapt your structure to make it work with what you've got.

Hell, we're crying out for a strong contested marking option right now due to how bad our ball movement is which would have made Fogarty much more important then Lynchs link play.

Lynch isn't critical or irreplaceable, not at least when Seedsman is in the side. Seed's run and long kicking means we bypass Lynch a lot of the time.

He has been for the last two games in the SANFL. Once there are two definite rucks in Hunter and ROB in the team, he doesn't get a look in as a ruck.

Fogarty has a long, long way to go to be considered an A grade talent just yet but you harp on like it's a foregone conclusion. At this time at best he's a PROSPECTIVE A grade talent with a shedload of work in front of him. In all honesty he's shown flashes of what he could become but has generally been a little bit disappointing ever since his under-age year in 2016 where he played well up forward at the U18 Championships kicking 7 goals, 4 of those against the Allies and playing good footy for Glenelg U18's in the Finals.

Darcy went into his draft year 2017 as the nominal No.1 pick but had a disappointing year for the Bays by his 2016 standards, ultimately succumbing to a meniscus injury he carried through the U18 Championships which appeared to inhibit his performance to a large degree, soon after he was booked in for surgery to repair a small meniscus tear and didn't play again.

I just hope the playing Darcy in defence experiment is well and truly over and we concentrate on developing his forward craft where I think he has absolutely his best chance to fullfil his massive POTENTIAL.

Thomas has also got them delivering the ball, But that could be the extra time our mid have which may benefit the forward, they are getting Silver service and Matty Wright one the best at setting up the plays Reckon his talk on the field is worth a few Gaols.

The structure is falling down beyond Lynch. I'd leave 1 of the 2 big guys out, hell maybe even both, to fit Fog in.
