AFC Support ?

how hard would it to setup a crows supporter group - i think if we need a change at all levels in the AFC then a new supporter group would be warranted - everyone would not need to sit in the same area, as long as you could get pockets of people that have the ability to make a bit more noise that just repeating adel-aid-e over and over ,once you get the numbers up it could make a difference to crowd noise levels ??

any thoughts ?

yeah but we need more than lateral thinking - after 14 years i think its time we really did something to put us apart from the rest - people will want to come to games for the atmosphere not just the game(which i realise is the reason we go).

There's a woman on the outer wing (white streak in her hair) who often gets up to lead a crowd chant. Admittedly it's always dull old "Adder-layde" but maybe she just needs a good skills coach. We should draft her.

no bashing required - i agree their shouldnt bee anything required but for some reason ( i think it stems back to the 94-96 era) the crows supporters are a silent lot - i think most of them are scared to get excited cause we could lose, but if you look at English Soccer - or most supporters there is a small core group of supporters that give everyone else a lead - we dont seem to have that (well a good one anway)

Yeah, our cheer squad sucks. We nearly are as bad as the old boys hawthorn

Fair enough, I do agree that you need a couple of people/groups to maybe start up some chants. This could start from the Cheer squad? I suppose it is hard to encourage some people to join in if they are not used to it.

The hardest thing would be to try & come up with some new chants. You could always start asking on here? Another thing would be to see if anyone from the cheer squad comes on here. You can then always give them some ideas & then they can start, which will maybe encourage the people around them. This will be a start anyway.

we have like 7 months to think of think of something?

i dont believe it has to be chants as such maybe just noise at the start of the game every goal etc etc - a bit like how the barmy army just cheer for 10 mintues ,
get a few crows supporters doing that during the game could help get the ball rolling

2. Come up with something(s) more interesting than "Adder-layde"

I can't say I'm full of great ideas right now, but to start with

1. Everyone on this board vows to do it themselves. I know we already do (or claim to - I won't claim to being the noisiest one in the crowd) but just take it up a notch. It's a lot easier for people to come out of their shells when others are doing it around them.

2. Something simple based on player names would be a start. We need more than "Roooooo!"
- I like "Bock! Bock! Bock!" - in machine gun style, not "chicken man style" which I think is demeaning.
- Or, a drawn out "Weeellllshyyyy" now that "Caaaarrreyyyy" is gone.

PS Where do the regular attendees on this board sit?

good call - i think if we can identify were people sit then all we need is someone to start it off, all that people do is follow a lead - like when someone starts chanting bock we all just do the same.

I sympathise. I think members get a raw deal seating-wise. Sometimes a mate will offer me a place (not seat ) in the members, like it's better than my season ticket, and I'll say "why?"

I'll give the members credit for one of the most awesome sounds I've heard at a Crows game. A few years ago, v Essendon - the umpiring had been appalling and at half time as I was leaving my seat I heard - no, felt a noise - I turned around and it was the members giving it to the umpires as they walked off with "CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT!". Awesome, and scary.

Not advocating umpire abuse as a primary crowd chant.

Email the cheer squad crows_sg@iprimus.com.au give them the suggestions rip into them and tell them to get there act together if enough people email them they may get there act together, god knows I have tried

I think emailing the CSG is a good idea, but I don't think it should include "ripping in to them" - no matter what you think of their performance to date, ripping in to them won't enlist their support. "We'd like to help" is a better approach - leaving out the "because clearly you need it"

I wish you luck and hope they can take notice of the suggestions you put to them. Noticed they were very quiet again today

or we could just start direct comp to them, competition may improve there output - i'm sure there is plenty of people out there willing to buy soothers for after the game
