Dons making up numbers in average even season but not in a good way.
Swans the most dynamic team left in finals that could kill some other ordinary teams off in 20 minute burst.
Tigers played to their strength of bringing opposition down to their level with tackling in big numbers their way forward. Finally won an important final for first time in decades.
Cats just not good enough anymore and not made up any ground from last season when they were blown away by Swans in preliminary final in first quarter. Their X-factor forward Menzel has not played any of these games. They cannot afford to leave a potential match winning forward like him out if they want to advance deeper into September. Learnt many of their fans have got soft underbellies and sook it up big time when out of their comfort zone.
Crows in comforts of home have a spot in grand final delivered on a platter. Getting the most out of their list at moment with everyone knowing their role in game plan well. If they fail to make grand final will be wasted golden opportunity in most even season , probably ever.

Not since any of Slobbos last 10 years of Farticles and verbal Slurmons have I seen a pundit or fan lead with his/her chin in such a manner. Yes, North possesses a huge war chest of cash, but it seems Martin, Fyfe and now Kelly have said thanks but no thanks.

Beyond the terrific Ben Brown, who would get a game at most clubs there are few talented players on the list worth more than $400k pa. Assuming North do not get a big fish, what do they do with the surplus cash on their TPP. Maybe the best is to offer Brown a reconfigured life long contract with $2.0M upfront next year.

Recruitment of players from other clubs can help but it is not the answer (eg Geelong and the Pies come to mind). Development of the list and recruitment through the draft and Rookies is the key task for North.

We'll also be flocking to the MCG for more "punishment" next Saturday.

Liked: Winning a final (first in 16 years, apparently) and beating Geelong. They have been a great side for a long time.
Liked: The last five minutes and extra time between Port and WC.
Liked: Essendon getting beaten. Disliked: Sydney winning.
Liked: Adelaide, a team of not many high draft picks but a real team, beating a manufactured group of high draft picks, enormous talent but not a great team.

Learnt: Adelaide or Sydney deserved favourites but the Tigers a sneaky chance.
