SUMMARY

Add the Lions to the list of teams itching to have a crack at the Hawks after years of being lorded over by the men in brown and gold. Lions coach Chris Fagan will have a plan to beat Hawthorn after nearly a decade there as a key football staffer, but the question is whether he has the personnel to execute it, and the signs are emerging that Brisbane is starting to flag after a bright start to the season. If the Hawks of last week turn up then they should get their third win of the year, but we thought that a fortnight ago and they were walloped by the Saints. In 2017 it is all in the head for Hawthorn.

Will be a very interesting game. Much more 5050 than last week I figure. Especially without Burch and O'Meara. If we had Beams, Bundy and Robbo in is be tipping the Lions. Should be close but you'd expect the Hawks to win.

Look for the Lions tall forwards to have an easier time than usual if they get enough opportunities. Frawley the only true KPD for the Hawks and he's not the clever zoning type. Some of those Lions boys have a bit of height and might find themselves with a bit of an advantage over guys like Stratton, Burton and Gibson.

Just saying that if the midfield battle is roughly even, wouldn't be surprised if Hipwood/Schache/Close kick 7+ between them.

Lions have some good talent. I wish they'd take it on and run the ball. Letting Hawthorn zone up and take possession through their structure is hurting them.
