Match Preview

Waite’s importance to the side has been shown by the scoring numbers in his absence, North scoring almost five fewer goals a match when the forward is unavailable. North’s last eight-day break involved a trip to Perth, but this time it has only had to return from Hobart, with the luxury of preparing for a home clash at Etihad Stadium.

After winning only one quarter after half-time in the first five rounds, the Roos have won all four in the last two weeks. SWANS ball magnet Jake Lloyd says Sunday’s clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium will show if last week’s improvement against Brisbane is a mirage or the real thing.
Sydney blew the struggling Lions away but face an entirely different outfit with the Kangaroos who started the season slowly like the Swans but did a demolition job on the premiership favourites Adelaide in Hobart last weekend.

“The way North came out from the start and their pressure around the footy was huge,” Lloyd said.

Prediction: Swans in a close one by 3 points

North Melbourne are the only team outside the top eight who have been better then what their win/loss record suggests. They should've beaten Geelong and the Bulldogs and should be sitting in the 8th spot right now.

In saying that they can still make the top eight as their percentage isn't too bad and if they can get on a roll they could do it. North have been the best scoring team outside the top eight.

Swans season completely on the line in this one. 100% over if they get rolled.

Dangerous territory so early in the season for some of their older players who would be keen to keep the flame going.

North under Scotts hypnotism have a maximum potential of +59 points and minimum of -49 points.

Should be a great contest and the result will be within 20 points.

North should get up by 17 with their lack of weak links now Thomas and Swallow have gone. (Gibson*)

Less yips, less cheating, less acting, less umpire and opposition hate, better forward pressure, more space for forwards to lead, less stupid frees against. The new North is a different beast and even under simpleton Scott, they've got enough talent and smarts to get over the Swans.

Good chance for Longmire to get a look at his future list.
