Agreed. Thought we tried our guts out but your team were a bit stronger and deserved to win. There are as many sore winners as losers. Hate losing but I think that the Saints can put themselves in a position to have a run at it this year and will be better next year. Hopefully we might be where the Saints are now this time next year.

Respect for the kind thoughts, best of luck next week in Perth and for the rest of the season :)

Yeh just like the Weitering goal when he CLEARLY pushed Webster in the back with 2 hands :rolleyes:

2 hands it was not and Webster needed an academy award for his dive when he felt something.

That was also very early and hardly had the impact the blatant ignore of the clear throw had late in the game followed up by the BS 50m penalty from the clearance and that was game over after that.

Umps gave you a 2 goal swing and killed the game.

LOL only a Carlton supporter would say that was a free kick. Hands in the back, which is a free kick on it's own, but to push him as well...

Hands in the back is still against the rules

It was a hand not 2 hands and it was more on his shoulder near his armpit not directly on his spine.

Throwing the ball is also against rules but hey if the shoe fits...... Saints are no worse than the Bulldogs with throws.

I was sitting at that end on L2 where it happened. 2 hands clear in the back.

Aa for throwing the ball every side does it. The umps have gone missing on that one

To be fair, that 50m penalty was right in front of me and the umpire did yell at him 3 times to give it to him.

After the 3rd one, he paid it.

As frustrating as that type of thing is to supporters - it was a clear 50 based on the rules.

According to some Murphy spat on Carlisle
Poor form. Someone said on Saints board "if Murphy spat on Carlisle". Couple of sheep then turned that into he did spit on Carlisle. You have joined the herd by passing it on.

Genuine question. Did a current Saints player once get suspended for trying to inflict more damage on Ed Curnows injured shoulder when he was being escorted off the ground several years ago?
And their supporters are up in arms because Murph said something to Carlisle when he was on the ground. Precious.

Pretty precious from St Kilda, and more widely their supporters.

St Kilda looked good in patches but are still a long way from being a contender. We held them up really well and if not for some issues executing, would have run over the top of them.

Like I said it being said on twitter and on our board. Many were at the ground.
Im giving him the benfit of the doubt until I see otherwise

Must he true then.

Think Saints players were genuinely frustrated we were running over the top of them and had all the momentum at that point. The Saints have always been an emotional team as well.

Credit to you guys - you were determined to not give up any goals out the back like we did against Hawthorn. It also made it a bit of a slog with one or two extra Carlton players pushing back.

But in pretty much every category except the scoreboard we smashed you. Only some sloppy disposal saved you from a 10 goal smashing.

Turn it right up.

We were wasteful going forward in the second half and made far too many crucial errors (Murph's dumb dribble, Cripps' dumb play-on). We also had all the momentum going into the last.

Fix up those two aspects and we go on and win the game.

How often does a team have 22 less inside 50's and 9 less scoring shots win the game?

Do you think if Carlton were a bit less methodical in their defensive structure and ball movement going forward, they may have had more forward 50 entries?

Why don't you find out?

We were far more efficient, which was the reason we drew ahead at one stage. Had all the momentum going into the last before the Saints played some good footy to win it.

Yes you did have all the momentum. Was a more mature St Kilda performance than in previous years to steady the ship to run out winners.

Seems like a lot to look forward to for Carlton, well coached by Bolton as well

I guess, but then you would have been exposed out the back and got slaughtered. I'm not sure I understand your point though?
