West Coast
The Eagles’ match committee has picked Liam Ryan, Daniel Venables and Jake Waterman to make their first AFL appearance in front of a packed house at Perth’s new sporting cauldron.
Waterman’s debut was confirmed last night, but Ryan and Venables have now been given the green light to make their first AFL appearance following their inclusion on the bench alongside dashing defenders Jackson Nelson and Will Schofield.
Schofield returns to the senior side after missing the last five games of the 2017 campaign.
With 2014 John Worsfold medallist Eric Mackenzie sitting in the stands, Schofield will bring invaluable experience to an Eagles’ backline tasked with taming the likes of Buddy Franklin, Tom Papley, Kieran Jack and Sam Reid.
West Coast has listed four emergencies for the historic clash: Francis Watson, Brayden Ainsworth, Mark Hutchings and Fraser McInnes.

Veteran pair Jarrad McVeigh and Heath Grundy have done enough to prove their fitness on the training track during the week and will make the trip West.
Callum Sinclair has been named as the sole ruckman in the side with Dean Towers, playing in his 50th match, likely to provide support against the Eagles big men.
Aliir Aliir failed to recover from an ankle injury suffered in the first JLT Series match against Brisbane and missed final selection.
Midfielder Dan Hannebery has also missed out but will play in a NEAFL practice match against the Academy on Friday.
Another notable absentee from the side is Gary Rohan who will remain in Sydney to support his wife through the final stages of her pregnancy.
