Collingwood

Callum Brown and Matt Scharenberg have been called into Collingwood’s team for the round two clash against Greater Western Sydney at the MCG on Saturday.

Brown and Scharenberg have replaced big man Mason Cox (suspension) and midfielder Josh Smith (hamstring) as the Magpies look to bounce back from their 34-point loss to Hawthorn in round one.

Brown, who has been named in a forward pocket, didn’t play at any level last weekend after being the held over emergency for the round one loss to the Hawks.

The emergencies are Jarryd Blair, Chris Mayne, Tim Broomhead and Brody Mihocek.

Among the players still missing from Collingwood’s potential best 22 are Jamie Elliott (ankle), Jordan De Goey (hamstring) and Levi Greenwood (knee).

Update

Collingwood has added Sam McLarty to its four-man emergencies list for Saturday's match, replacing the injured Chris Mayne. Mayne has withdrawn from the squad due to a quad complaint.

Greater Western Sydney

Running midfielder Tom Scully will make his return to the GIANTS’ line-up for Saturday afternoon’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

The 26-year-old replaces defender Aidan Corr in the 22 that thrashed the Western Bulldogs at UNSW Canberra Oval last Sunday.

Not hugely confident about this game. People talk of our poor record at the G but to me that's not important. We don't play there much and in dimensions and surface It's very similar to Manuka, our mids love the space to run into there.

What is relevant is our poor record gainst the Pies. They have a tough midfield, and have always managed to get ours on the backfoot at times. Rory has a big job to negate Grundy who hurt us at Spotless last year.

If we can handle their midfield or forwards can, and will, kick a winning score. The pressure is on guys like Cogniglio, Ward, Shiel and De Boer when he's not forward, to get first hands on the ball.

Giants by 70, Pies are headless chooks with zero structure or game plan. The Giants forwards will have a day out with the amount of inside 50’s they have today. Jez to kick 7+

All I know is that Collingwood would not want to be playing like they did last week. Thing is, they normally come out better the week after they were scrutinised over their performance the week before.
