And were still raped. Paid way more deliberates against, that ridiculous Lynch free that should have gone the other way. Two goals from fifties.
Nothing to do with umpiring...yes you had injured players on the bench, but Essendon didn't give a yelp until 3/4 time.
Tigers went to sleep in the last.
Needed to be closer to pull off an upset.

Don’t be fooled by the last quarter. We are utter tripe and will get turned over by Carlton next week. Hopefully the fans send the club a message and don’t turn up

Carlton no matter how bad they are always seem to find a way to lift against Essendon

Sure missed easy set shots to Stringer, Tippa and the Begley behind that should have been an easy handball to Laverde in the goal square. Obviously they count and have to blame ourselves for those. But this is the third game where the umps have given our opponents weak frees than end in goals and not to us, plus ridiculous fifties like the Heppell hold. The inconsistency is disgusting.

Carlton are going to eat you like you're an English breakfast, and lick the plate clean.

And then its season over.

Hopefully, then we can sack Woosha who we never should have hired and get someone with a plan.

How does Gilbert have a job interviewing players and classed as a commentator when he looks like he's about to have a brain aneurysm everytime he opens his mouth to talk?

Is it so hard to employ professional people to do a job so we don't have to put up with tripe?

As a Richmond fan, I'm more unimpressed by Essendon than happy about Richmond's performance.

Wet, injuries, etc...sure, but for most of the game they just didn't seem to care.

For a team that a few months ago was considered finals certainties and even premiership contenders, that was hugely underwhelming.

Not hard to understand why he has a prime time gig

You didn't play well enough for long enough tonight to win...umpires or no umpires - the better side won.

Re the umpires, same old s**t on BF game day threads. Some even post extreme rubbish as if umpires are conspiring against their club or puposely favoring their opponents. I don't subscribe to that.
One of the coaches - I think it was Clarkson - when asked about umpiring described it in the most appropriate way.
He said it is one of the most difficult sports to adjudicate. Also equated it to players - that if a player has an efficiency rate of 90%, everyone would say they are a gun. If the umpires adjudicate at 90% efficiency, unlike a player they are derided. On a hiding to nothing.

Umpires are only human, they run a half marathon in the course of the game, have only a split second to view and make a decision on the play, may even be obstructed or at a distance from the play or the wrong side of a contest to see what has occurred.
We have replays of play, slowed down, camera angles from all directions and mostly not from the point of vision where the umpire is looking at the play.
Umpires may not make a call because they didn't see it. Or alternatively make a wrong call about a mark etc because they make a decision based on what they saw (didn't see the ball hit the ground etc from their viewpoint for example). Free kick counts don't have to be even either.
Tonights game the umpires were strict on deliberate out of bounds, and very technical in giving 50 metre penalties. But at least they were consistent in their interpretation. I think there was maybe one howler against Bellchambers that resulted in a Richmond goal but it happens. I don't subscribe that the umpire made a wrong call to favour Richmond or to deny Essendon. That's ridiculous.

Best team won tonight, despite gping to sleep in the last qtr - well done Richmond.
