Adelaide area

Sunny. Possible morning fog patches about the hills. Light winds becoming north to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the morning then tending north to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the evening.
Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Friday, July 19, 7.20pm ACST

What it means for Adelaide:
Last weekend's 95-point thumping of Gold Coast was a nice confidence boost, but it will count for little if the seventh-placed Crows can't back it up against better competition.
What it means for Essendon: Having won five of their past six games, the in-form Bombers can take another step towards booking a finals berth by knocking off the Crows, who are directly above them on the ladder.
The stat: The Crows kicked the highest score in the club's history against the Bombers in round 10, 2006 at Football Park. Trent Hentschel booted eight goals as the Crows smashed the Bombers by 138 points – 30.8 (188) to 6.14 (50).
The match-up: Eddie Betts v Adam Saad
Little separates this pair – Betts is 99th overall while Saad is 101st in the Official AFL Player Ratings. The Bombers defender kept Betts goalless last year, but the Crows veteran is high on confidence after booting six goals against the Suns.
It's a big week for: Rory Sloane
The Crows co-captain will receive close attention from Bombers youngster Dylan Clarke, who added North Melbourne star Ben Cunnington to his list of successful tagging assignments last week. Sloane will have to be creative and have his teammates block for him at stoppages.

Big call: Reilly O'Brien to dominate in the ruck with at least 45 hitouts and 10 clearances.
Prediction: Crows by 15 points

Also, there's a $1000 BigFooty Special Moneyball fantasy game for tonight, entry is only a buck.

Probably the Crows at home. I still don't have too much faith in the Bombers despite some recent wins. Big game in the context of shaping the final 8 or importantly which of these two makes finals.

With the ins and outs this week it's highly unlikely we get close.

If it wasn't bad enough losing Hurley last week, we now have our 3 first choice ruckman injured so have to play McKernan as ruck, losing him from the forward line where he is the "replacement" for Daniher.

Too many key injuries, Adelaide pretty easy.

Adelaide should win comfortably being at home and our injuries. But as long as we have a fair crack and everyone stays safe and has fun then there will be no losers. 😎👍

This is one of the worst, most unbalanced sides we’ve put on the park for some time.

We don’t have a recognised ruckman due to injury.

McKernan probably has to come out of the forward line to play ruck, where he’ll have a crack but will find it tough.

Daniher and Stewart are long-term outs in the forward line, and joined this week by Fantasia and Laverde. Up forward we’re left with Mitch Brown, Stringer and probably Francis, who is a defender. Hopefully Tippa can get a few touches.

So Francis has to come out of the backline, and Hurley is also out, though we have decent coverage with Hooker and Ambrose. We’ll see re Hartley, it’s his first senior game in a while.

Will be tough
