The Blues will be hoping for another big from their superstar mid Patrick Cripps when they take on West Coast at Marvel

Where and when: Marvel Stadium, Sunday August 4, 3.20pm AEST
TV, radio and online: Click here for broadcast guide
What it means for Carlton:
It's another valuable opportunity to build momentum to finish the season. Having won five of seven games under David Teague, the Blues have the chance to potentially leapfrog the Swans and move up another spot on the AFL ladder.
What it means for West Coast: Top spot is in the sights of the Eagles. A game behind the Cats, they might look at this contest as an opportunity to close in on the minor premiership and potentially secure a handy percentage boost. They're starting to look ominous.

The stat: Remember when there were doubts about West Coast's ability to win on the road, particularly in Victoria? The Eagles have won their past eight games at the MCG and Marvel Stadium, dating back to the start of 2018.
The match-up: Jacob Weitering v Josh Kennedy
Kennedy returned to form with seven goals against North Melbourne last week, while he has a fantastic record against his former side. He's kicked bags of 10 and six against Carlton in recent years, with Weitering likely to be handed the task of quelling his influence this week. Weitering is one of this year's big improvers, but can he stop Kennedy?
It's a big week for: Liam Jones
Stopping Kennedy will be hard enough. Then there's Jack Darling. And Jake Waterman. And Willie Rioli. And Liam Ryan. If the Blues are to overcome the Eagles, they will need a defensive masterclass. Jones could be key to this, should he continue to play loose in his 'safety' role in the backline and act as the side's main interceptor.

Big call: Willie Rioli has a career-best day, kicking five goals as the Eagles secure victory.

Prediction: West Coast by 19 points

Danger game for Eagles and they will know that.

Good thing is the players shouldn't be complacent. They will need to bring close to their A game to win, if not Carlton will be keen to kock us off.

Confident the Eagles can get the job done with what's at stake but would not be surprised if we get rolled!

We do seem to have competitive matches against West Coast regardless of our ladder position.

It's nice for the reigning wooden spooner to be given even a small chance against the reigning premier 4 weeks out from finals.

Rd 5 2019 then Rd 20 2020. The AFL fixture really is full of quirks.

Last year Carlton were 0-4 and getting pumped and gave us a real contest, though 10.19 to 10.9 does flatter the margin a bit.

This year Carlton are on a 3 game winning streak and have won 5 of 7, with the two losses being by under a kick.

Would have preferred to play them when they were hopeless, but a Rd 20 fixture against a team not expected to play finals is usually a soft kill so you can't predict how games will pan out when the fixture is released.

Should be a good game. Both teams have some quality in the middle and a couple of key forward targets they're not afraid to kick to. Just hoping for a win and Eddie McGuire not calling the game.
