The Port game earlier in the year was an interesting game for a few reasons
* Our 1st game in adelaide for the year with a predominantly 1 sided crown , We have now played there 2 times and the last being just 2 weeks ago
* Scores were level or just a few points difference at 3/4 time and lost it in the last quarter with some bad errors like the 100mtr penalty etc
*Astbury , Cotchin , Houli , Edwards , Nankervis , Graham all didnt play in that game who are all starting 22

Whilst Port are fancied to win you never know with a team like Richmond with 4 years deep finals experience
+ Prestia

Both very undisciplined acts no doubt but give me another example of a high tackle getting a week and a knee in a blokes shoulder with no force also getting a week. Lynch might get a fine as it’s a bad look however Cotchin will have no case to answer.

Ill give you a tonne of examples of tackles that weren't high with a slinging action, like Cotchins, that got at least a week. The high contact was aggravating imo.

Thought we were pretty average in a finals sense and and it was very similar to our 2018 final v Hawks. We won due to more experience and just better than Saints at their current level but something was missing.
Port should win easily really.

Nothing as egregious as Green's worst. Not even close. Just a few floggish moments.
I stand by my comment. Tom Lynch is entering the Toby Greene Zone. He hasn’t reached the core of that despised place, where Toby sits at the epicentre, but he is in the zone.

Hey Roger. If you see NaturalDisaster tell him I’m happy to write another game preview for the Richmond Board. The last one I wrote was unerringly accurate. Hope you are well.

As soon as Martin goes it is over.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

can i borrow your crystal ball? Wouldn’t mindgetting some tattslotto numbers. That ok?

It is no lazy certainty that Saints will progress on a similar gradient next year. In fact it is likely probablistically (try saying that with a breast in your mouth) they won't. It is the funeral sentiment, humans care for people undergoing a loss, and lie to them to make them feel better.

Also, what chance the Tiges Port game replicates the previous one? Noteworthy is RFC's post 2016 ability to go to school after poor games and work out teams that previously had the wood on them or thrashed them. They are the learning club. They may be in class right now and you can bet they won't be sitting there popping white heads and smearing the pus under the desk top where the old chewy is.

Does anyone have a suspicion the GF could be between the two most abhored teams in Melbourne, a people who know a thing or two about being abhorent and sneaking outside their radius?

we haven’t lost a return game to a team that has beaten us since 2017. Well observed.

What changes besides us having a 4 day break and having to fly in the morning of the game last time.

We got smashed in the middle last time that's why we lost
Starting Midfield for game 1 was martin stack caddy bolton

This time it will be martin edwards prestia bolton and hopefully cotchin

There is your change even without cotch the addition of prestia and edwards is massive

Thought the umpiring was fairly balanced. Saints fans claiming we were kissed on the dick is laughable.

Broad and baltas deliberate out of bounds were shockers and cost 2 shots on goal. Edwards kick to Houli called not 15 but the one to saints later for another shot at goal. Steele doesn't get done holding the ball or incorrect disposal first but houli gets called for tripping, leads to a goal.

Saints default since 66, all through 70s 80s 90s and till today, has been to blame external forces for their failings. Whether it be luck of a bounce, or umpires. It is in the fanbase dna and even their gen whatever fans have it. Male pattern baldness. Saints fan excuses. Similar thing.

Lynch: Mmmm, there is definitely a second action and we all know what knees to the head can do? He'll get off again, but something is not right up top and Cotchin is his own man, plus it's finals time. If they both play against Port they make the Grand Final easily.....

Despite his Brownlow he is not among the modern greats, or even the next rung down. But he has developed into an imposing leader after the captaincy almost crushed him. Took on the job when Richmond had played finals twice in 29 years and has since led us to 7 of 9 finals series. The right man at the right time.

Was disappointed that he wasn't recognised for breaking Perce Bentley's club games record tonight, set in 1940. A far cry from the fanfare Pendlebury received recently when breaking Buckley's club record.

Benny Gale addressed the Richmond rooms on Cotch's record breaking achievement after the game.

When the Ch. 7 commentary team, who hadn't said peep about it, asked why Benny was in the rooms and were told about Cotch's achievement they changed the subject.

Can't believe he got zero recognition for it.

Still, he's enormously respected within his own club's four walls and that's about the highest honour any player can achieve.
