That was the worst umpired game i have ever seen yes worse than 2016 stuff.

Hawks far to good their pressure was incredible Newcombe had 14 tackles! insane should get a rising star for that alone.

Swans actually had more tackles.

According to BF lore, if you cop several such umpire shellackings and draw attention to it, you're whinging.

We were shafted 11 times this year. About time we got a gift from Papley abusing Razer and ensuring we won the free kick count.

That was more than a gift..it was blatant cheating ...it was like watching the Dogs get gifted a GF win

We are minus 1,000 free kicks over the last 75 years. Im not going to say no to charity.

And the only real howler was the deliberate we got when the ball was kicked 60+ metres and went over the line.

But that decision conversely makes the Mitchell non-deliberate just as much of a howler!

In any event the Hawks were too good across the park tonight but it's difficult not to feel frustrated when you don't feel like you had a fair chance to get back in the game.

The umpiring didn't impact the result, but it definitely impacted the game.

Some truly terrible umpiring, but nothing I haven't seen before. Hawks V Bombers round 1 was very similar.

There is no system for improvement with AFL umpiring.
Their performance is not reviewed in detail by the media.
No analysis on the decisions, paid or missed for each game.
There are howlers paid every minute, the commentary doesn't even know.
We look at the free count as a measure but that is not a true reflection.

Its increasingly frustrating to watch. Go watch some 80's and 90's footy for some perspective

IMO interpretation needs to be removed as much as possible. For example, deliberate out of bounds could easily be changed to the last person to touch the ball gives away a free like SANFL are doing. Also, umpires need to be made full-time and incentivized to perform.

Also the AFL deliberately hide the stats but I would be very interested in stats from individual umpires in terms of paying free kicks for and against various teams, as I am willing to bet we would see patterns emerging.

Probably didn’t change the result in the end but wow it’s been a while since a team has blatantly gotten screwed by the umpires like Swans did.

No matter what they did they just would not pay holding the ball against the Hawks

He's been the recruite of the year just having a bad day along with plenty of other swans
Yea I haven’t really watched the swans but just a few
You must not have watched any football this year. Certainly tonight Ceglar has worked him over a bit but he has been a massive plus for the Swans this year.
I really haven’t watched the Swans. I did ask the question if he was always this bad...kinda implies I haven’t been watching the swans.

Definitely didn't effect the result. Was however a spiteful, disgraceful display. If the AFL admin were legit (which they aren't) they would be charging Ray for bringing the game into disrepute. Yes he was that bad. Can't have an ump conducting themselves like that.

So last year when Clarko tried to do exactly that he was whinging, now the shoe is on the other foot something needs to be done about it?
amazing huh..

The hilarious part of this is that most people have heard that Horse writes a weekly letter to the AFL to ask them to look at specific umpiring decisions within his Swans games.

Its going to be a hell of a read this week. 😅

Can you outline why these age figures seem so different to the ones from here:
You've got us over 4 months older than Sydney, they've got us 6 months younger. It is not just about pre-match vs actual match teams because their pre-match still had us 2 months younger. Is it different accounting for the injury sub?

We finally got looked after for one match last week and the media whinge all week about it,amazing stuff.

There was one to the end of game where omeara bounced and was tackled (no interpretation needed) but agree it was very one sided more in what was not paid to Sydney and hawks got some technical ones.

Whinging isn’t the right word IMO, it’s the idiotic tigers fans who suggest it’s some kind of AFL conspiracy that deserves to be called out.

Yeah one of the reasons is that I generally post the figures after teams have been named but before the injury sub has been chosen, i.e. for the 22 rather than the 23. Regarding the significant age difference here... I notice they don't have a DOB listed for Newcombe and suggest they're counting him as a zero.
