Jackson Callow Debut

North Launceston product Jackson Callow plays his first game for the Hawthorn Football Club. After moving away from family to play in the SANFL last year, Callow was picked up by the Hawks with Pick 17 in the mid-season draft. The strong-bodied 195cm key forward earns his spot in the senior side after impressing for Box Hill at VFL level this season.

James Sicily 100 Games

Stand-in captain James Sicily celebrates game 100 for the Hawks. The 27-year-old joined Hawthorn with Pick 56 in the 2013 national draft. Sicily made his debut in 2015, and initially began his career as a forward. But a shift down back has seen Sicily develop into one of league’s best defenders. Sicily continues to go from strength-to-strength after sitting out the 2021 season while recovering from an ACL injury. This year ‘Sis’ averages a career-high 23 disposals and three intercept marks a game.

Jack Scrimshaw 50 Club Games

Rising defender Jack Scrimshaw notches up game 50 in the brown and gold. The 23-year-old has been among the Hawks’ most reliable troops in defence after being traded to the club from Gold Coast at the end of 2018. He played a career-high 20 games last season, where he averaged 20.6 possessions and 3.5 rebound 50s per game.

I can't even remember the last time the Hawks beat us.
They're due a win against us. I think it will be this week.
It used to be round 1 every year for a while there it seemed.
Good times.

Glad we don't play you to open the season these days though ;)

Can see this match going one of two way.

Either the Dees smack the living bejebus out of us to the tune of heavens knows what, or they see it as an opportunity to take the foot off and rest up any sore bods as a sort of 'mini bye' given it's the halfway mark before their first bye and only win by 10 goals or so.

I doubt the latter will happen Goody has no intention of resting players. Having said that I don't think Melbourne are going to smash hawthorn either, probably just get a handy lead and maintain it throughout the game and 'rest' players within game.

Judging by the weather on Saturday it'll be a slog. Wet and soggy MCG. Combined scores might struggle to get to triple digits.
15-35mm jesus. Gonna have to get there early.

Luke Jackson set to miss.

We only need about 10 more Melbourne players to come down with Covid and we're a real shot here!!!!

This is the same thing I said for years whenever we played the hawks.

Hoping to one up ourselves and kick 10.28 this week.
Yze's phone in the box to stop working and 7 more players get hit with the rona.
Dees by 14 pts.
