The Dogs will be ruing the missed opportunities, but what a gutsy win by the Cats. That's how a premiership team has to scratch out a win and they've failed to do it on three or four occasions this year, which is why the Cats are in the pickle they're in.

Found a way to get it done even though our mids are still struggling to find much of the ball. Might be one of those games where the losing team dominates the Brownlow votes.

Loved Knevitt's game, while Mullin's a great story and clearly a phenomenal athlete, but looks a fair way off it right now. I'd like to see what our mid-season pick Mitch Hardie has to offer ahead of Mullin, now that he's had a taste of it.

On to the bye now for the Cats and to stay in the hunt, we probably need to go 2-1 over the three after that: Port away, Melbourne at home and Sydney away. I'm looking forward to this team showing us what it's made of.

Dogs loved an unforced turnover last night. Plenty of gifts given to Geelong through skill errors under no pressure.

Bit of a s**t show

Thought the dogs were very good all night - got a bit tired in the last and didn’t take their chances. Maybe the hot game in Darwin takes a toll?

The Dogs forward line and linkage between mids and forwards is a real conundrum. So many times their mids were streaming through the middle and they generated almost no easy shots all night. Some of it was good defence but the forwards were unable to create space for each other.

Naughton is a great jump and mark player but has no forward craft. Lobb is a s**t version of Naughton. They're crying out for a Mihocek or Hawkins type who are worth far more than their stats imply by bringing others into the game.

That was a great game, which we should have won comfortably, so im pretty flat, still. But a great game for neutrals. And cats fans.

Endemic problems that weve been seeing all season;
  • Mids constantly bombing the ball in long which sets up the defense.
  • Forwards running backwards not leading to the ball which makes the mids bomb long.
  • Not winning the crumbs in the forward 50.
  • Forwards all jumping at the same ball and getting in each others way.
  • Defenders all jumping togather and getting in each others way.
  • Opposition forwards free to run into space.
  • Defenders poor kicking giving away 3-4 goals.
  • Forwards poor kicking costing us 3-4 goals.

If we could fix either of the last 2 points wed win both of the last 2 weeks and be comfortably top 4.

So close. So f----g close!
