Interesting game to try and gauge.

Think the Swans have done a lot right but against poor opposition. And without Hickey, are vulnerable in the ruck. Ladhams has looked better this year but still feels one brain fart off doing something stupid.

Dees haven't set the world on fire, but at home always tough to beat.

Neither midfield has been setting the world alight statistically across the first two weeks of the season either.

Feel like it'll be a close one.

Last year I saw Maxwell Gawn play the most dominant game I’ve ever seen a ruckman play, but he couldn’t get the Dees over the line. The boy had it on a string.

With Maxwell in the stands watching the F1 I’m tipping Sydney by a lot.

In the final May played some type of extraordinary game as well.

We also lost that night

Maybe if neither play (which is possible), we win?

Swans easy
Hard to draw a form line because the Swans' season hasn't really started yet. Gold Coast shaped as a decent opponent in round one, at their home ground, but that didn't eventuate. Hawthorn were, well, Hawthorn (the 2023 version - not knocking their achievements over the last couple of decades).

So I really have no idea what kind of shape the Swans' game is in.

Swans are never a good match up for us at the best of times and with Gawn and Kozzie out we won't have enough contested marking, speed around the ball or goalkicking power to win.

Papley to kick 4 or 5.

Not sure of the swans form as yet but they’re looking good. Swans need bud against the better teams as Logan and Amarty wouldn’t get it done against May & co. Even if May gets on top of buddy it frees those two up to play against weaker opponents…

Dees
Despite beating them in 2021 every Dees fan knows the Swans have the wood over Melbourne and have for a very long time. And they will until they don't.

Can't see Melbourne winning.

We are not hard to beat at home…

Scene is set for a small Sydney forward to kick a bag. Papley to kick 5 against an out of place McVee or Rivers. Heeney, Warner and Mills to dominate.

It’ll take something extraordinary to lift our midfield out of the hole they were in against Brisbane, maybe if we played Hawthorn we might be ok, but we are playing a very good side who has our measure.

Swans by 37 with lots of questions about our credentials, particularly without Gawn.

Why will it?

They had a bad game, it happens.

I am more confident as the game draws nearer, watching Brisbane get rolled after beating us probably reinforces our form hopefully isn’t that poor. Losing clearances like that concerned me, but hopefully that turns at the G on Sunday.

We simply do not match up well against Swans or Pies.

Swans by about 3 goals.
