Which is why I like the introduction of the last disposal rule. It works well in the SANFL and removes a lot of grey areas. Understandably, introducing another new rule will get a lot of people off side initially, but I think people will come around to it in due course.

The issue with the deliberate rule is that you can't judge what a player's intentions are.

People bang on about us not having full time umpires. It's got nought to do with umpire skill. It's that the rule is completely impossible to adjudicate correctly. Last time I checked, humans do not have mind reading powers.

Going to last possession will mean that it's far easier to adjudicate.

Loved:

• zevon’s write ups all year. Always a highlight. Thank you!
• Cats pressure. I thought we’d fold this finals series. So very happy with what we presented.
• David Swallow. Absolute servant of the game and the club. What a time to be the hero. One of the few times the journos’ trumped up storylines deserved the hype.
• GC winning one. What a hard road, what a way to win. Good team, and Dimma may make them a great one.

Learned:

• Hawks are better than I thought. Could actually go all the way, and that win will steel them.
• At the same time, no one knows how to drive the Ferrari.

Hated:

• The Rayner stuff. Not him, so much as the umpiring of it. Don’t get sucked in! In general I felt week one had more soft frees than you usually see in finals (not necessarily favouring any team).
• End of Fyfe’s career.
• Adelaide booing of Quaynor.
• The group of people who have very specific requirements for how the indigenous population should behave in their presence, in this case as to how the welcome to country should be done. I would guess high correlation with people saying that immigrants should assimilate better ...

I think there's enough hate for the current rule it'll be universally welcome from half time of the first game

Man, the across going from being the Top team to this is a massive fall from grace.

They just look insipid, putrid, meek and impotent.

They were beaten pretty much in every position last week, and again tonight.
