He took several clutch intercept marks which is a prime reason we got him. Amartey is actually a tricky matchup for him because he's fast and agile for his size. He's more suited to the Hawkins type forwards or a Harry McKay.
Yeah thought he was fine, I watch all west coast games as I’ve got a soft spot for them and always wanted him at Carlton to compliment Weitering

I think Swans have too many C graders with limited upside.
List probably needs to be rejuvenated.
Rowbottom, McInerney, Jordan, Florent, Campbell, Paton and Adams...not enough class and improvement there.
Too many C graders in the 28+ year old age bracket - Hamling, Fox, Cunningham, Mellican they need to be your ageing A + Bs
Its not panic stations - its the class doesn't bat deep enough.

Wouldn’t be worried if I were a Sydney fan. Limited ability to stretch Hawthorn up forward with McDonald out. Their other outs meant all Hawthorn had to do was control the Lizard and Heeney. Then it was just Warner as a one man band.

They did well in the third when they locked down on Sicily.

How were they going to stretch us up forward? That's the 1 area we are stacked. Wouldn't have made a significant difference IMO, Frost or Battle would have played on McDonald if he played. Battle spent alot of time on Papley, we had other options if Battle ended up on a tall. 1 played in the forward line most of the night.

Heeney needs to stop appealing for LBWs during football matches or switch codes to play cricket.

Given how terrible the umpires are, this is actually possible.

My guess is they give Warner 2 votes. We almost never clean sweep votes in our wins.
Warner was a standout with his carry and damage, 12 score involvements just did not have a lot of support. Newcombe stiff to miss out but I think Sicily, Meek and Day will poll ahead of him.

Where were the wizard hats last night? The cringiest thing I’ve ever seen in football

Embarrassing susupporters
I've lived in Sydney for the last decade and Swans supporters are the most undeservedly smug supporters of any club. Most of them were there last night because rugby league is too mainstream for them in Sydney and they want to be alternative. Heard multiple people appeal to the 'ref.'

They were all over the Hawks when they locked down on Sicily in the third. Have a second genuine tall forward would have forced greater accountability.

that's why there will only ever be one Wizard, jeff farmer. Nick Watson is a good player but performances like tonight make the nickname so cringe
Jeff farmer was a good player but I think 7 goals in his first season and 19 in his second. Kids just started his second season and is already being tagged

Warner for sure their standout. Easily their best. Fast, strong and accurate.

Yeah , maybe wicks but he has a lower bar, otherwise Warner in terms of winning the game, we had Heeney tackling and doing contested shit all night seemed a waste

The general vibe to me watching was Hawthorn played like a side that knew it was good and could /Would win and it was Sydney that almost came into town despite being at home, thinking if we compete and things go our way you never know.

Really it was only a 20 minute burst of footy, which from 3/4 of 2024 onwards we have tried to win by constantly doing.

Last time these sides met to now . Almost 12 months has seen a massive shift

4 points against a good opponent on their home deck and crowd. Plenty of things went right a few things didn't go as well. First game of the season. It is to be expected against a good opponent u cant dominate a whole game. You need to limit the damage when the opposition get a roll on. Change the game and get back on top. Things we did successfully. We move to next week back at home. It's a long season and the race has just started

Had nothing to do with the backline they lifted in the midfield. Frost was on the field in the 2nd half and he took the 2nd key forward.
