Who should come in? Who's out?

Hawks flying out today to acclimatize to the conditions which should help. Impey is a big out but the Hawks get Barrass and Scrimshaw back.

Important game for both sides.. I will go for Gold Coast by 8 points

Both teams with the 5 day break, but the Suns from a hard-fought win against the Doggies in the NT heat, while Hawthorn had a much easier task against Melbourne at the 'G.

Hawks get a couple of big names back, with Barrass essential to quell the influence of Ben King who is one of the top 2 forwards of the year so far (Hogan is the other of course).

The Newcombe/Rowell duel in the middle will be great to watch.

Expecting a very close one decided by less than a goal.

Heart says Hawks, head says Suns.

Suns should win easily. Despite our record we aren't going that well. A bit of a bogey team for us as well as we have lost 4 of the last 5.

We will look terrible and lose then come back and beat Brisbane next week like we always do

And Thursday night is locked and loaded..this will be a top clash.
two teams riding high

Dimma just said they've flown up 4 fresh guys to play this week. Interesting approach to drop 4 best 23 players because of the conditions.
Did the same last year. Only Jepson flew there, the rest were there already - Moyle, Read, Swallow, Lemmens, Johnston.

Graham and Rogers out.

This is game number 200 for Touk Miller. Got a feeling the boys will be pretty fired up to win this one for Touk.

4 very unlucky blokes about to be dropped who helped get them the win
Not really. It was planned to rest some players especially kids. Last year in the same situation against Cats we made 4 changes. Some players were off their feet, cramping in the last quarter against Cats. I suspect the team will have to gut it out in the last quarter again.

Graham and Rogers got injured and some players like probably Witts need a rest after heavy load. Tough fixture, 3 games in 11 days, 2 in crazy demanding conditions. Suns got some depth.

I predict
out - Graham, Rogers, Witts, Walter
in - Moyle, Read, Swallow, Jepson/Johnston

Luckily for Suns, Hawks also have only 5 days break and had to travel. Conditions favours Suns who are used to them.

Gunston and Meek ruled out.

Hawks clearly are conceding defeat and looking towards the Brisbane game... get on the Suns!

I have no idea why but I think Hawks get up here.

Reckon Suns fail the challenge and the Hawks have turned a corner after whatever Mitchell baked them with at 3 quarter time against Melbourne.

Hardwick on 360 last night said his players lost an average of 6kg's each during last saturday nights game and have barely trained this week due to the 5 day break and having to manage players through.

Both sides making lots of changes to their teams, in preparation of the conditions and the impact to their side, and when you combine that with the slippery ball in humid conditions....makes the prospect of Darwin ever having their own side seem implausible.

Dogs players will also be a watch this week, against the Bombers.

I loved in Darwin for a few years. Great place to live but people are dreaming if they reckon you could base an AFL team there even if the population grew to 1 million.

6kg sounds terrifying, but in reality there would be 5kg of 'water weight' in that, which they will naturally recover from over the following 48 hours.

Having to do it all again after just five days is where it gets interesting.

After this game it will be two, maybe three weeks of essentially rehab. The whole squad would currently be training like veterans. Harder for the young players to back it up twice (with less pre-seasons to build resiliance), and will probably take a few weeks to "catch up" the recovery time fully.

I'm thinking GC will still run out the game strongly - one of our biggest weapons has been our fitness and final quarters - GC have been even better.

GC by 20.

Interestingly GC had same dual Darwin games last year with a 5 day break into the second game which they won easily kicking 26 goals v cats

Remember that game we were flat on our feet last qtr and they were walking on air
The whole week acclimatising seems to work for them
